‘Vengeful and cruel’: Leftists slam Christian celeb for having an ‘abortion’ after devastating miscarriage

Grieving Christian celebrity Jessa Duggar Seewald has been subjected to a cruel and heartless campaign by abortion activists claiming that she had an abortion when she actually suffered a tragic and soul-wrenching miscarriage.

Parade Magazine claimed that the devastated mother had a “life-saving abortion,” while other outlets called Seewald a hypocrite because she is pro-life. She has four children with her husband.

Seewald posted a jarring video on Friday titled “Heartbreak Over the Holidays.” The heartbroken couple shared the news that they had lost their fifth child to miscarriage. The young mother was in the first trimester when doctors told her that the pregnancy did not “look good.”

“Nothing could have prepared me for the weight of those words in that moment,” she recounted. “At that moment, I was just in complete shock. I didn’t have words. I just immediately started crying. And I was so, so thankful in that moment that I had not gone to that appointment by myself because I almost did. And Ben was there, and he put his arms around me.”

The doctors recommended a D&C (dilation and curettage), which is a procedure used both in miscarriages and abortions, The recommendation came as a result of previous health problems and was decided upon rather than allowing her miscarried baby to pass naturally and further endanger the mother. Seewald has been recovering from the procedure.

When the couple lost the child, they turned to God and their faith to get them through the tragedy. It is Seewald’s second miscarriage.

“I was thinking of Job and how when he lost everything that he held dear – his kids, everything – in that moment, he was still able to say ‘God is good,’” Seewald stated as she fought back tears. “I remember reciting those words of Job that says, ‘The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be thy name of the Lord,’ and I was able to thank God in that moment for giving us this life, even if we would never be able to hold this baby in our arms.”

That didn’t stop abortion advocates from attacking the family, making false claims concerning medical care and pro-life laws.

“This is at best ignorance, at worst a cruel lie,” Lila Rose, who is the president and founder of Live Action, said in response to an attack by pro-abortion writer Josie Duffy Rice.

“Jessa miscarried,” Rose asserted. “Her baby passed away & she needed a surgery to remove her little one’s body. An abortion intentionally kills a living baby. Abortion is an intentional act of homicide, a miscarriage is a tragic natural death.”

“There’s a terrible, vengeful cruelty in insisting to a woman who has tragically miscarried her beloved baby that she had an elective abortion,” she added.

The Centers for Disease Control recognizes the distinction between a miscarriage and an abortion. The left keeps trying to falsely conflate the two. Government data only includes induced abortions, not miscarriages.

According to LifeNews, “Laws that restrict and ban abortions allow miscarriage, or ‘spontaneous abortion,’ care. They also allow life-saving care in cases of ectopic pregnancy and other rare pregnancy complications when the mother’s life is at risk. Pro-life laws only ban killing unborn babies in elective, induced abortions.”

Dr. Ingrid Skop and Mary E. Harned, J.D. of the Charlotte Lozier Institute conducted research into the issue in 2022, which included the analyses of state pro-life laws, abortion, and miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy care. They reportedly found that all state pro-life laws permit “abortion in those rare and heartbreaking circumstances when it is necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman,” including for miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies.

Skop and Harned claimed that the misinformation from abortion activists, not the pro-life laws, is endangering women’s lives.

“A plain reading of any of these statutes easily refutes the false and dangerous misinformation being spread by pro-abortion activists,” they contended in their findings.
