Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) calmly refused to take the bait when an irate black woman at a recent town hall meeting tried to portray her remarks about Democrat House colleague Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) of being the sort of rhetoric that led to the murder of Emmett Till, an often invoked martyr of today’s race-obsessed left whose name is used a cudgel against conservatives.
Last month, Greene remarked on how Bowman, a big man with a short fuse who is also black, has physically menaced her on two occasions, pointing out that his “physical mannerisms are aggressive” and telling reporters that he’s “someone that people should watch,” suggesting that the ticking human time bomb operates in a mode that is dangerously close to violence with nothing even remotely racial about her observation.
But since EVERYTHING is ALWAYS about race, the constituent exhumed poor Till to dishonestly say that her remarks about Bowman could incite someone to do him harm, a suggestion that was also made by California Governor Gavin Newsom.
“Do you know who Carolyn Donham is?” Greene was asked by the woman, to which the congresswoman replied that she did not.
“She was the woman who said that Emmett Till looked at her the wrong way, or said something to her, the way you did Jamaal Bowman…,” she said as others in the audience grumbled. “You were on the steps of the Capitol talking about gun violence…”

“I think you’re reckless. I think you’re reckless,” the woman said. “You had no business saying, ‘Oh, he’s so big. Oh, I feel so, like, he’s gonna hurt me.’ That’s the same thing Carolyn Donham said that got Emmett Till killed, and that was reckless, and you did a reckless thing. And if anything happens to Jamaal Bowman, it’s going to be on your hands.”
Greene responded, “Let me ask you, were you in New York when he stood outside my car… and he brought a crowd around me? Were you there?” Greene asked. “No, you were not in New York City when that happened. It’s on video, it’s on video, and you may watch the video. And you can see how he cussed…That’s wrong. This isn’t about skin color. I refuse, I refuse for you to do that.”
When she was done, the audience applauded.
Bowman himself embraced the comparison to Till, playing the victim after Greene called him out for his threatening behavior.
Black men continue to be characterized as aggressive and threatening when we are passionate and outspoken.
They’re not just using dogwhistles, they’re using bullhorns. It’s dangerous, but we must ALL continue to speak truth to power. https://t.co/6eLZf2F3Cm pic.twitter.com/O29uCdAehC

Till was the 14-year-old Chicago teen who, in 1955, was brutally tortured and murdered by racist criminals in pre-civil rights-era Mississippi after he allegedly whistled at a white woman and Donham, who recently passed away at the age of 88, was hounded until her final days with some demanding that she be prosecuted despite her failing health and advanced age.
