White House COS epically fails in ambitious spin of damning new poll on Biden performance

A recent CBS News poll spells disaster for President Joe Biden, but according to White House Chief of Staff Ronald Klain, with 69% of Americans thinking the economy is “bad” and 63% saying that the state of the country is “uneasy” and “worrying,” things are actually looking up.

Of course, Klain doesn’t want Americans delving too deep into the statistics.

Taking to Twitter, Biden’s chief of staff responded to the CBS poll with an ambitious spin, even for a company man.

“I hate to spoil the narrative but this poll shows @potus approval rating moving up, and solid public confidence on the two biggest problems he inherited: COVID and jobs,” Klain tweeted Sunday.

Are you sure, Mr. Klain?

Because according to one user, the “gain” is “within the margin of error.”

According to Axios, “Biden’s approval rating stands at 44% in the poll; 56% disapprove of his handling of the presidency.” The poll has a margin of error of ±2.5 points.

“If Ron thinks that these numbers are good for this narrative, Biden should get a new COS,” the user suggested. “Total clownshow.”

And that was, perhaps, the kindest response Klain received.

In fact, it’s hard to believe he actually read it.

According to CBS News, “The number who say things in the country are going badly overall is at the highest level of President Biden’s tenure, too, as pessimism about the market, the economy and prices drives views looking forward — and outweighs optimism about both jobs and coronavirus, as we head into summer.”

“Goodness Ron… how you’re able to apply lipstick to this pig is stunning,” replied another user. “Covid was done when you got it… only for the admin to stoke it back up to failed results.”

“And jobs, seriously???” the user continued. “The economy was rebounding until you CLOWNS decided to actively crush the fossil fuel ind.”

“He inherited low gas prices, no war in Ukraine and plenty of baby formula,” noted Richard Grenell. “He is weak and feeble. Everyone in the world sees it.”

To Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.), Klain’s reaction to the dismal poll is an indication of how “out of touch” Biden’s administration is with Americans.

“That @WHCOS thinks this is a ‘narrative’ and not the result of @JoeBiden’s failed policies shows joust how out of touch this Administration is to the struggles facing hardworking Americans,” he tweeted.

And according to author Carol Roth, “Things are great. He’s doing amazing. Almost as popular as a colonoscopy.”

Meanwhile, Americans are pessimistic about “the national economy, the stock market and inflation,” the poll found.

“In fact,” said CBS, “outlook on the costs of things gets the most pessimism of the items tested, followed by pessimism about the national economy.”

A whopping 77% of those polled said they were pessimistic about the “cost of goods & services,” compared to 70% in September 2021, and 68% are pessimistic about the national economy — a full 10 points higher than the 2021 response.

In short, Mr. Kain, as one user put it: “Nobody believes what you are selling here. Narrative or not.”
