‘You’re a piece of s**t!’: AOC’s constituents unleash at Queens town hall

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-N.Y.) constituents aren’t happy with their plucky “Squad” member.

At a Friday town hall meeting in Corona, Queens, angry New Yorkers repeatedly disrupted Ocasio-Cortez with loud boos and shouted statements about everything from immigration, funding for Ukraine, and the debt limit, turning the event into a hostile, chaotic mess for the Democratic socialist.

One passionate flag-waving man advanced toward Ocasio-Cortez as security surrounded him.

“American citizens before migrants,” he yelled. “Where are you on the migrant issue? You’re a piece of s–t.”

As he warned the guards against putting their hands on him and was led away, the man shouted about military vets being kicked out of hotels in New York City so migrants can be housed. That claim was debunked by Fox News.

The crowd erupted into loud boos, leaving AOC to grin awkwardly and mumble, “Okay.”

Another man who said he served in the Iraq War was later given the mic and tried to calm the crowd.

“Immigrants have nothing to do with vets,” he said. “We all came through Ellis Island. Things are different. Things change over time.”

When the discussion turned to the looming June 5 debt default deadline, Ocasio-Cortez called on the Biden administration to eliminate the debt limit, claiming that a failure to do so would throw the U.S. economy into chaos.

“The president has come out saying that he also believes he has this authority [to raise the debt limit],” she said. “What he has also said is that he is not sure if he is able to implement the authority in time for the June 5th deadline. And so, that is where we see this impasse.”

“I still believe, first of all, that we should start to implement it anyway because we should eliminate the debt limit in the United States,” she continued.

It didn’t sit well with protesters, who took issue with the nearly $40 billion in military aid the Biden administration has sent to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s invasion of the country in February 2022.

Some in the audience were holding signs that read, “America First” and “Stop Funding Ukraine.” Another sign read, “AOC is an obvious criminal,” and yet another demanded that she “stop pushing Draq Queen story hours.”

“One hundred billion for Ukraine,” one man shouted. “One hundred billion for Ukraine that you voted for!”

He was shouted down by a counter-heckler.

“I don’t like that Republicans passed a $1.7 trillion tax cut on the wealthiest people in this country,” the congresswoman argued.

“We are at war with Russia,” a woman stated loudly, noting that we’ve sent F-16s to the region. “We’re on the verge of nuclear war. It’s not okay! Are you going to stop this war?”

“Why are you afraid of your constituents?” she demanded to know as she was escorted out and a wave of boos rumbled through the crowd yet again.

“Stop funding this war!” yelled another angry woman as she, too, was led out. “There’s a lot of communities that need help and need that money. I’m from that community!”

Online, people questioned Ocasio-Cortez’s popularity among those she is tasked with serving.
