Zelensky to give pep talk to senators ahead of Ukraine cash giveaway vote

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will speak to members of the U.S. Senate in advance of a critical vote to continue shoveling tens of billions of taxpayer dollars into the notoriously corrupt Eastern European country.

On Tuesday morning, the shabbily-clad defender of Western “democracy” is set to give what amounts to a pep talk to senators via video in a classified meeting, urging them to ignore the pressing needs of Americans in a period of economic uncertainty to give him more money as Congress remains at loggerheads over the $60 billion demanded by President Joe Biden to be included in an aid package for Israel.

“The administration has invited President Zelensky to address senators … as part of our classified briefing tomorrow so we can hear directly from him precisely what’s at stake in this vote,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said on the Senate floor. “I ask that all senators — all senators — attend this important briefing.”

The New York Democrat also attacked Republican holdouts for “dangerously” putting the cash flow to Ukraine at risk for insisting that money for the crisis at the southern border also be included with Washington’s Christmas gift to Zelensky.

“A handful of Republicans have dangerously tried to link Ukraine and make our support for democracy in the west, a pivotal issue that history will remember us for, conditional on passing hard-right border policies…,” Schumer said at a press conference last week.

Once again, the use of “democracy” is thrown out by a Democrat, a term that no longer remotely means what it has traditionally been defined as, especially in Ukraine where Zelensky is refusing to hold elections.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, a former world heavyweight boxing champion, delivered a punch in the gut to his leader who he described as an “authoritarian” in a recent interview with a German news outlet.

“At some point, we will no longer be any different from Russia, where everything depends on the whim of one man,” Klitschko told Der Spiegel, apparently not a big fan of the “democracy” snake oil that Senator Schumer is peddling.

The video address comes as Biden’s U.S. Office of Management and Budget pressed congressional leaders to stop lollygagging around because the money for Ukraine is about to run out.

“I want to be clear: without congressional action, by the end of the year we will run out of resources to procure more weapons and equipment for Ukraine and to provide equipment from U.S. military stocks,” OMB director Shalanda Young wrote in a letter to House and Senate leaders. “There is no magical pot of funding available to meet this moment. We are out of money — and nearly out of time.”

The Democratic Party apparatchik warned that the continued dragging of feet by Congress would “kneecap” the Ukrainian military, suggesting that a failure to act promptly would play into Vladimir Putin’s hands.

“If our assistance stops, it will cause significant issues for Ukraine,” she wrote. “While our allies around the world have stepped up to do more, U.S. support is critical and cannot be replicated by others.”

“If Ukraine’s economy collapses, they will not be able to keep fighting, full stop,” Young said. “Putin understands this well, which is why Russia has made destroying Ukraine’s economy central to its strategy — which you can see in its attacks against Ukraine’s grain exports and energy infrastructure.”

Schumer is expected to bring the Ukraine aid package to a vote this week despite GOP opposition, especially in the House.
