As most are well aware, liberals never miss an opportunity to turn a tragedy into a point-scoring political football, even when the tragedy is ongoing and those involved are either already dead or gasping for air.
As BizPac Review reported, a frantic search for an OceanGate Expedition’s submersible carrying five people began on Sunday, an hour and forty-five minutes after it departed to view the infamous wreckage of the Titanic. The sub lacked GPS and operates on a PlayStation controller.

The vessel has yet to be found, and oxygen levels are reaching critically low levels.
In covering the horrific situation, The New Republic, whose stated goal is to “bring liberalism into the modern era,” decided this was a great chance to throw some shade on the GOP.
“OceanGate CEO Missing in Titanic Sub Had History of Donating to GOP Candidates,” the outlet’s headline screamed on Twitter.
Babylon Bee contributor Ashley St. Clair slammed The New Republic for its lack of a “moral compass.”
“The craziest thing about this is you have to be very deliberate to find this information,” St. Clair noted. “Whoever wrote this went to the FEC contribution search page with the express intention of having political ideology determine the level of empathy they have about someone’s horrific demise.”
“This is an incredible example of man being incapable of living without ‘myth’ or religion,” she continued. “These people have just substituted spirituality or God with the State. Their moral compass doesn’t exist— it’s completely determined by what their political party deems acceptable (more like useful) at the time.”
“If this article is any indication of the Left’s morality baseline,” she cautioned, “I’d stay far, far away from them.”

Journalist Matt Taibbi called the story a “new low” for The New Republic.
“Welp, I guess we should hope they all die slowly and gasping in terror, then,” he tweeted. “Congrats @newrepublic you found a new low on Twitter!”

Washington Examiner writer Kimberly Ross noted that the outlet deleted its first attempt at tweeting out the story and tried again.
After the adjustment, The New Republic stated, “OcenGate CEO Stockton Rush was not a Republican megadonor, but his donations over the years leaned heavily toward Republican candidates.”
“Not an improvement,” Ross told the outlet.

“These people are absolute monsters,” said KTTH Radio’s Jason Rantz. “Imagine not just writing this dumpster fire piece from @DanielStrauss4, but then tweeting it to promote @newrepublic.”
“They’re so sick,” Rantz stated.

It isn’t the first time The New Republic has been called out for its take on news events.
Earlier this month, New Republic writer Tori Otten claimed Starbucks’s decision to ban “Pride decorations in stores halfway through Pride Month” was “understandable” considering “how bad the right-wing rage has become.”
“Target stores in five different states received bomb threats over the weekend and had to be evacuated,” Otten wrote.
“The New Republic is evil,” claimed conservative podcaster Tim Pool. “The bomb threats came from LGBTQ activists not from the right.”
