Alina Habba slams people celebrating Trump asset seizure: ‘They don’t have a conscience’

Monday was a rough day for leftists who were anticipating that New York Attorney General Letitia James would begin seizing the assets of former President Donald J. Trump, only to be foiled by a last-minute appeals court intervention.

The fun was spoiled when the court slashed the amount that the presumptive GOP nominee would have to put up for the bond to appeal the “obscene” penalty imposed by James and her toady, Judge Arthur Engoron in their civil fraud case, lowering it from the onerous half a billion dollars to a more manageable $175 million which Trump said that he’ll pay to purchase his right to due process.

Trump’s lawyer Alina Habba appeared on Fox News after the appeals court yanked the rug out from under James, ripping the leftists who were oozing with anticipation over the prospect that “Peekaboo” would be able to steal her client’s buildings and golf courses, telling host Jesse Watters that they are devoid of a conscience.

“Do you think Tish James and Judge Engoron, do they feel ashamed, a little embarrassed?” Watters asked. “Have they felt, I don’t know, maybe that they overreached a little bit after this decision?”

“Well, that would mean that they have a moral compass or a conscience, and I don’t feel that that exists,” Habba responded. “People that go on TV censor Donald Trump, shut him off when he’s speaking, want to act like he’s about to go broke, want to act like he’s poor. And that’s why he couldn’t get a bond that no private company has ever been asked to get with no cash equivalents other than cash, marketable securities.”

“People that get excited for that, they don’t have a conscience,” she said, describing the vultures who were circling before Trump’s legal reprieve and the windfall of his Truth Social company going public, putting billions of dollars in his pocket.

“But, you know, I hope she took a little piece of humble pie today because that’s what was served to her,” Habba said of James. “Just a little. But we’ll be serving a lot more of that in the next couple of years.”

“Judge Engoron has refused to obey the decision of the Appellate Division relative to the Statute of Limitations. This is a confrontation between a Judge and those that rule above him – A very bad situation in which to place New York State and the Rule of Law! Engoron has disrespected the Appellate Division and its very clear and precise ruling,” Trump wrote on Truth Social after the appeals court lowered the amount.

“He should be made to do so, and at the same time, release the GAG ORDER. This is the 5th time in this case that he has been overturned, a record. His credibility, and that of Letitia James, has been shattered. We will abide by the decision of the Appellate Division, and post either a bond, equivalent securities, or cash. This also shows how ridiculous and outrageous Engoron’s original decision was at $450 Million. I DID NOTHING WRONG, AND NEW YORK SHOULD NEVER BE PUT IN A POSITION LIKE THIS AGAIN. BUSINESSES ARE FLEEING, VIOLENT CRIME IS FLOURISHING, AND IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THIS BE RESOLVED IN ITS TOTALITY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU!” Trump said.

“Donald Trump is still facing accountability for his staggering fraud. The court has already found that he engaged in years of fraud to falsely inflate his net worth and unjustly enrich himself, his family, and his organization. The $464 million judgment – plus interest – against Donald Trump and the other defendants still stands,” James said in a statement, not enjoying the big slice of humble pie that was served up this week.
