‘All kinds of names for her’: MSNBC panel smears Casey DeSantis, brands her ‘America’s Karen’

The panel on MSNBC’s “Saturday Show with Jonathan Capehart” reached an all-new juvenile low, using a former Republican to bash Governor Ron DeSantis’ wife Casey DeSantis, calling her “America’s Karen” while another panelist sneered there are “all kinds of names for her.”

Capehart thought it was hilarious as Never Trumper David Jolly took swipes at Florida Republican Ron DeSantis’ wife alongside “The Lincoln Project” member Tara Setmayer. The vicious name-calling comes after the Florida first lady launched “Mamas for DeSantis” which seems to have struck a collective nerve on the left.

Casey DeSantis is a fairly compelling political figure in Florida, and now nationally. For many, she’s the brighter side to Florida’s angry governor. For others, she’s become America’s Karen. And I think that’s the ultimate disconnect here with a campaign that needs to embrace more constituencies to get to the White House,” Jolly ridiculously stated, knowing full well that DeSantis has shown he has already done so by winning his last election in Florida by a landslide.

A laughing Capehart turned to the other Never Trumper on the panel so she could spew venom as well.

“Tara, I think David’s beaten you in terms of taking my breath away during a segment. But real quickly, though, because I do want to move on to Mike Pence for a hot second. America’s Karen: David Jolly, you went for it!” he proclaimed.

“Well, I called her, I called her this, you know, Serena Waterford wannabe needs to cut it out. We see you. So… there’s all kinds of names for her. She needs to stop trying to measure the drapes in the White House and think that she’s some kind of Jackie O reincarnate. I mean, Casey DeSantis, keep an eye on her, though. She’s a wily figure,” Setmayer accused.

The trite reference to Serena Waterford invokes a character from Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” which leftists love to trot out as some kind of an example of conservative tyranny. Her husband is the commander of the totalitarian government of Gilead in the series.

Jolly really seems to have a deep hatred for Casey DeSantis… a former news anchor, mom of three, and cancer survivor. It indicates how much the left fears her. He also claimed during the segment that she merely highlights her husband’s “losing” message.

“But she is a more effective messenger than Ron DeSantis, but if all she is doing is amplifying the wrong message, she’s actually clarifying Ron DeSantis’s weaknesses. And so this, this ideology, the DeSantis doctrine, if you will, that our culture wars of the most pressing moment, and we are going to invent these culture wars to terrify voters, that’s simply not a message that resonates,” Jolly falsely stated.

“So as I like to say, it doesn’t matter if it’s presented in heels or boots, the DeSantis doctrine’s a losing one. We’re going to learn that the more Casey DeSantis gets out there,” he declared.

Since leaving office as a representative in Florida, Jolly has made regular appearances as a political analyst for leftist media outlets such as MSNBC and CNN.

The media has incessantly gone after Casey DeSantis since her husband entered the 2024 presidential race. The Daily Beast labeled her “Walmart Melania” while other outlets have mocked her at every turn.

“We’ve got a Sunshine State Lady Macbeth, in her green cape and white gloves, with her middling husband and her thirst for the crown — and we’ve got a guy who wants to be sitting in a corner, mumbling about the Federalist Papers and gobbling pudding off his fingers,” The Daily Beast’s Katie Baker wrote about Casey DeSantis in June.

Twitter hammered the MSNBC talking heads:
