Set against the backdrop of “No Kings” demonstrations across the country, where many radical leftists were spotted promoting violent rhetoric that has grown synonymous with their politics, President Donald Trump was made to use the shorter staircase en route back to the White House.

That decision was made as the FBI dispatched investigators to Palm Beach International Airport after a fixture that looked like an “elevated hunting stand” was discovered, prompting concerns about another assassination attempt.

Addressing the discovery, FBI Director Kash Patel issued a statement detailing, “Prior to the President’s return to West Palm Beach, USSS discovered what appeared to be an elevated hunting stand within sight line of the Air Force One landing zone.”

“No individuals were located at the scene. The FBI has since taken the investigatory lead, flying in resources to collect all evidence from the scene, and deploying our cellphone analytics capabilities,” he added.

It was also reported that the stand may have been set up “months ago,” raising questions about how it had gone overlooked for so long.

In his own statement on the matter, Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said, “During advance security preparations prior to the Palm Beach arrival, which included the use of technology and comprehensive physical sweeps, our teams identified items of interest near Palm Beach International Airport. There was no impact to any movements, and no individuals were present or involved at the location.”

“While we are not able to provide details about the specific items or their intent, this incident underscores the importance of our layered security measures,” continued Guglielmi.

Along with Saturday’s protests, the discovery came more than a month after the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and just over a year after another assassination attempt had been made on the president at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf club.

That incident, which followed the July 13, 2024, attempt on Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania, resulted in a conviction against Ryan Routh in September. The man who’d been discovered hiding in the bushes with a rifle was said to have been discovered by a Secret Service agent before attempting to flee the scene when the agent fired at him.

Routh was convicted of assaulting a federal officer, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, as well as two counts with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence and the attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate.

“This verdict sends a clear message,” said Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in part. “An attempt to assassinate a presidential candidate is an attack on our Republic and on the rights of every citizen. The Department of Justice will relentlessly pursue those who try to silence political voices, and no enemy, foreign or domestic, will ever silence the will of the American people.”
