AOC’s ‘struggling’ baby formula bandits have rap sheets that include strangulation, arson and assault

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent a passionate tweet in response to news that the NYPD arrested a dozen shoplifters, closed 23 warrants, and recovered $1,800 worth of what appears to be stolen diapers, formula and other baby supplies — but she should have checked their rap sheets first.

“When I talk about violent conditions, this is what I mean,” AOC stated. “But hey, it’s much easier to frame people who steal baby formula and medicine as monsters to be jailed than acknowledge our politics and economic priorities create conditions where people steal baby formula to survive.”

“Child tax credit expired Dec 31st and it was many people’s lifeline to feed and clothe their kids,” she continued. “Politicians let it expire overnight with a shrug, but now want to feed into the sensationalism around crime acting like shoplifting has nothing to do with their actions. Wild.”

You know what’s really wild, AOC?

The fact that those poor struggling thieves have multiple violent convictions between them, including one for allegedly smashing a glass into a guy’s face in a bar fight, arson, and two with strangulation convictions. Is that monstrous enough for you?

According to a report in the Daily Mail, NYPD released the defendants’ criminal records, which show that this is hardly the group’s first rodeo, and their crimes are not exactly out of “Les Misérables.”

“Among the dozen arrested, Weston Coot, 38, of Grand Concourse, had been convicted of assault after he glassed a man in the face in a Hell’s Kitchen bar fight in 2009,” writes the Daily Mail. “It was his second felony arrest. He has eight arrests in his rap sheet.”

The Daily Mail highlights each of the group’s priors:

Tanya Thomas, with 26 arrests, including robbery; Euniya Morales, 22 arrests, including assault; Annieza Saulmarshall who has arson, burglary, and evidence tampering charges; and Carlos Bonet and Urayoan Reyes who both strangled people.

These clearly are not simply struggling families. These are career criminals, and not because they stole Pampers and pacifiers.

This marks the second time Ocasio-Cortez has blamed the Big Apple’s skyrocketing crimes on the end of child tax credits, and the second time she has been called out for doing so.

“But hey, @AOC doesn’t want to tak about #Bidenflation that eats into low- and middle-class wages. It’s just easier to buy votes by giving money away…” tweeted one user.

“When did it become legal to steal…?” asked another user. “Unless I missed a law being passed, morally right and legally right are two different things. Oh also–there were 23 warrants that were resolved from these arrests too, but you won’t discuss that.”

And as yet another user pointed out, “People steal baby formula to sell it.”

In reaction to the revelation that these were repeat offenders, Twitter couldn’t help but giggle.

“Sorry, but this is funny in its own way,” stated one user. “My guess? She didn’t check details. Race sufficed.”

Yep… those pesky details, AOC. That’s where you will always find the devil.
