Arizona rep. shreds Biden’s border claims: ‘Everything they say is pretty much a lie or gaslighting’

With a Cheshire cat grin, President Joe Biden doubled down on his view of the border crisis, leaving one Arizona congressman with only one conclusion from the “gaslighting” demonstrated by him and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

The national security concerns of the crisis at the southern border don’t merely stem from the impact waves of thousands of illegal aliens have on communities across the country, but also a growing threat of terrorism.

Compared to 2021 where there were only 16 apprehensions, 2022 saw a record 98 arrests of individuals on the FBI Terror Watchlist crossing illegally into the United States. Now, after six such arrests were made in just two days, 2023 has already seen 88 terror suspects taken into custody while Biden boasted of the conditions at the border.

Over the weekend, the president had briefly stopped to speak with the press while he was vacationing in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware when he was asked, “How do you think things are going at the border sir, with Title 42 lifted?”

To that he responded with a laugh, “Much better than you all expected,” a position he reaffirmed from the White House Tuesday.

Reacting to the news, House Homeland Security Committee member Rep. Eli Crane (R-Ariz.) joined “Fox & Friends First” Wednesday and lamented, “It’s kind of sad to say, I never thought I’d see it, but it seems like everything they say is pretty much a lie or gaslighting the American people. And I think the American people know that the truth is the exact opposite from what he’s saying.”

Along with Biden’s boast of the conditions at the border to which he admitted he had no intention of visiting soon, Mayorkas had touted a 50 percent reduction in border crossings in the days immediately following the end of Title 42, much like the president had promoted inflation holding month to month after it had already reached a 40-year high.

The week leading up to the end of Title 42 had seen crossings upwards of 10,000 per day for a record-breaking 83,000 before dropping to 6,300 encounters on Friday and 4,200 on Saturday. Even NewsNation host Chris Cuomo pointed out during a broadcast from the border in El Paso, Texas that the lack of aliens gathered at the border did not indicate an abatement of the problem, but was merely a relocation of it into neighborhoods throughout the nation.

“You heard all the politics about how there was going to be an invasion and now there’s literally almost no one here, and for you, the absence of people should be more frightening than seeing the big groups because when you see big groups, that means you know where migrants are,” Cuomo said Monday.

Crane concluded on his point, “Elections have consequences and Secretary Mayorkas has shown no desire whatsoever to actually do his job. It almost seems as if this administration, this Department of Homeland Security, is hell-bent on admitting and facilitating as many illegals into this country as possible, and the American people are suffering for it.”
