An Arizona high school teacher stirred up a hornets’ nest after he dressed up as the devil and allegedly told his students to “Hail Satan!” in his classroom, resulting in his reportedly being placed on leave.
According to 12News, a sophomore named Nathaniel Hamlet, who is a Christian and was one of the students in the classroom where this allegedly happened, told the outlet that his unnamed teacher showed up wearing horns and sporting a pitchfork.
“The teacher involved in the situation told 12News the reason why they were dressed up that way was for Halloween spirit week. They said the theme was dynamic duos and the teacher next door was in an angel costume,” the news outlet reported.
“Participating in spirit weeks like this is a way for me to engage with my students and bring fun to my classroom,” the teacher explained to 12News. “It’s truly not any more complicated than that.”

Hamlet claimed that the teacher waved his pitchfork over students’ heads when they came into the classroom and said “Hail Satan!” He found it incredibly offensive because of his Christian faith.
“Some people thought it was funny, some people didn’t like it, some people were like ‘whatever,’ they just blew it off,” he recounted to 12News.
“I said, ‘Don’t do that to me’ and I pushed [the pitchfork] away, maybe three or four times, and he still said it and still did it,” Hamlet stated.
The teen told his father, Chris Hamlet, about the incident. The irate parent, who is a former Mesa Public School board candidate, reported it to school administrators and then to the Mesa High School principal.

“I was livid because I am a Christian as well, obviously,” he told the news outlet. “What really tipped it over for me is, that he kept telling him no, and he and the teacher kept persisting.”
The former candidate for the school board ran on a platform to combat “indoctrination, hypersexualization, and grooming.”
“The next day Nathaniel Hamlet said the teacher was not in the classroom and hasn’t been back since. Mesa Public Schools said the teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave,” 12News noted.
“I feel like that’s fair, but he did it repeatedly to everyone,” Nathaniel Hamlet commented. “So I feel like you should probably get fired.”
“I don’t think it’s OK, joking or not. If you’re gonna keep the Christian stuff out, then you got to keep the devil-worshiping stuff out, period,” the father said while agreeing with his son.
“Mesa Public Schools administration was notified of an alleged incident at Mesa High School late Wednesday (10/25) afternoon after school hours. Our Human Resources department began the investigation Thursday (10/26) morning and placed the teacher on paid administrative leave pending the result of the investigation. The investigation remains ongoing,” Mesa Public Schools told Fox News Digital in a statement concerning the incident.
Users on X sounded off over the unholy altercation:
I hope he’s just joking around since halloween is around the corner, but it’s still not a good look.

But if someone came into the room and told the students, “Jesus loves you,” they would be thrown out.
