In what promises to be merely a warmup to the reaction seen Tuesday and throughout the week, as pro-abortion forces rally the troops, the scene outside the U.S. Supreme Court Monday night was very tense amid the report that Roe v. Wade had allegedly been overturned.
In what would serve as a “breathtaking” breach of the most fundamental obligations and traditions of the Court, as George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley described it, Politico reported that it had obtained a leaked opinion, dating back to February 10, 2022, of what appears to be an authentic draft opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito.
Writing for the majority, Alito said: “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overturned. The constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision, including the one on which the defenders of Roe and Casey now chiefly rely – the due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment…Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences.”
The news struck the land like wildfire, and authorities in Washington, D.C. wasted no time erecting barricades in front of the Supreme Court — the reaction to an overturn of Roe will likely make the Jan. 6, 2021, protest at the U.S. Capitol look like a Sunday picnic.

Pro-life and pro-abortion forces were just as quick to gather outside the high court, and initial scenes of somber reflection did not last very long.
“Just hours after reports emerged that a majority of justices had voted to strike down Roe v. Wade and the abortion protections it enshrines, scores of protesters began to assemble outside the Supreme Court, flowing into the area well into the early morning hours on Tuesday,” the New York Times reported. “The mood outside the court was a mix of anger and mourning, with some demonstrators sitting silently in front of a long line of candles, while others formed a roving circle, shouting defiant chants about the news.”

As more people arrived, so too did the chaos — which seemed to arrive about the same time as did the aggressive black-clad Antifa-like abortion supporters:

Expect abortion proponents on the left to exploit the reported overturn of Roe v. Wade to pressure President Biden and the Democrat-controlled Congress to kill the filibuster and expand the Supreme Court before they potentially lose their majority in November.
