Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent fired off a wicked zinger at Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), the ranking Democrat on the Senate Banking Committee, who demanded information about the rise in the 10-year Treasury yield.
Warren grossly exaggerated her Native American heritage to advance her career in academia, earning the nickname of “Pocahontas” from President Donald J. Trump, a reference to the legendary Powhatan Indian who would later be the inspiration for a Disney film character.
After being publicly mocked by Trump, the Massachusetts Democrat was outed as a complete fraud when she got a DNA test in 2018 and publicly released the results, which, while showing that she indeed had Native American bloodlines, were of a significantly lesser amount than what she had suggested: as low as 1/1,024th.
In the latest exchange between the two, Bessent ribbed the notoriously thin-skinned senator in a letter responding to her demands, the latest in a series of more than 100 strongly worded letters that she has sent to the Treasury boss since the Trump administration took power.
Exclusive: FOX Business obtained the response from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to the latest request for information from Senator Elizabeth Warren.
The Senator has sent more than 100 letters to Treasury asking for information in the past 21 months. The Secretary snarky at times in the response saying, “Rather than take my suggestion of studying introductory economics, you have continued your letter-writing crusade and participation in tabloid fodder about the Treasury Department.” Secretary Bessent also added a hand-written note at the bottom of the letter. Senator Warren sent a letter dated October 10th asking for more information about what the Trump Administration is doing to lower borrowing costs for average Americans. In the letter the Senator accuses the Treasury Secretary of increasing costs saying, “The surge in Treasury yields is self-inflicted and follows the Fed’s decision to raise the federal funds rate by a quarter of a percentage point, driven by concerns about inflation.” The Treasury Secretary refuted that characterization in his letter, adding, “It is difficult to treat your concern as sincere.” Adding, “As the federal funds rate climbed from near zero to its highest level in 22 years, with inflation hitting a 40-year high, you were a cheerleader for the Biden Administration’s reckless spending.”
The Secretary finishes the letter offering “a Foreign Exchange for Dummies tutorial still, and if you receive a passing grade to the Yale metric, not the Harvard curve, I would be happy to also include a Fixed Income for Dummies.”

“Happy Indigenous People’s Day in advance to you and your family,” Bessent said in handwriting at the bottom of the letter, a flaming arrow of mockery shot at one of the biggest phonies in the U.S. Congress.
“Indigenous People’s Day” is the fake name given to the traditional Columbus Day in honor of the man credited with founding America who has been posthumously vilified by the “woke” left, which pulled down statues of the 15th-century Italian explorer during the “woke” cultural revolution.
“The surge in Treasury yields is self-inflicted and follows the Fed’s decision to raise the federal funds rate by a quarter of a percentage point, driven by concerns about inflation,” Warren said in her letter, accusing Bessent of raising costs.
“It is difficult to treat your concern as sincere,” Bessent shot back, adding, “As the federal funds rate climbed from near zero to its highest level in 22 years, with inflation hitting a 40-year high, you were a cheerleader for the Biden Administration’s reckless spending.”
“Rather than take my suggestion of studying introductory economics, you have continued your letter-writing crusade and participation in tabloid fodder about the Treasury Department,” Bessent also wrote in the Oct. 9 letter.
The Treasury secretary had previously generously offered Senator Warren a personal tutorial on “Foreign Exchange for Dummies” after another of her letters about the U.S. decision to intervene in markets to prop up the Japanese yen.
In her latest sciolistic letter to me, @SenWarren made it clear that she knows even less about foreign exchange markets than she does about banking.
What is equally shocking, but not surprising: not a single member of the media mob has a rudimentary-enough level of financial market literacy to spot her remedial error.
To reiterate: under @POTUS, the United States delivers for America’s trusted partners.
For a fuller explanation, I recommend Senator Warren take any entry level course in international finance for her and her staff, or I can personally give her a tutorial on Foreign Exchange for Dummies. Although I am not holding my breath, I hope her next letter will demonstrate that she has learned the difference between a currency purchase and a swap or a loan.

“If Warren’s ancestor were six generations removed, she would be 1/64th Native American. But if her ancestor had been as much as 10 generations removed, that would make the individual a great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandparent and render Warren only 1/1,024th Native American, according to Blaine Bettinger, a genealogist and author who specializes in DNA evidence,” the Associated Press reported in 2018 after Warren’s test results were publicized.
