Riding high on their wipeout of the Republican Party in Tuesday’s midterm elections, Democrats have impeachment on the brain.
While the eventual impeachment of President Trump is inevitable, conviction in the Senate will still be a challenge; there is already talk about targeting other Trump officials — the outgoing do-nothing GOP majority is about to get a hard lesson on how to properly wield power from angry, revenge-minded Democrats.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is at the top of the list for tearing down the left’s “sacred cows” within the U.S. military, but Attorney General Todd Blanche is also being named as a potential target.
U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), of Guam-tipping-over fame, was asked by Mediaite founder Dan Abrams about the DOJ becoming an “arm of Donald Trump’s retribution campaign” — this being Abrams’ take on the Trump administration’s weak attempt to hold Democrats accountable for weaponizing the federal government to go after a political rival.
“I personally believe that the offenses of Todd Blanche demand that he be impeached and convicted and removed from office,” Johnson dutifully responded to his queue. “That’s my personal opinion. I think his efforts to undermine the rule of law can’t go unaddressed.”
U.S. Rep. Deborah Ross (D-NC) also appeared on Abrams’ SiriusXM show to say she agrees “100%” that Blanche should be impeached.
“But I think we should start with Hegseth,” she added, suggesting that with a few weak-kneed Republicans, their revenge strategy may even pay off.
“When you’ve got 56 Democrats, and there are still some Republicans who have bucked Trump who are there, there is a chance that some of this will happen,” Ross said.
“It sounds like you think you might have the votes in the Senate, the 67 votes, to convict Todd Blanche?” a hopeful Abrams asked.
“I don’t know the answer to that,” Ross said, before claiming that “the American people are demanding accountability.”
One thing is certain: the next two years are a circus waiting to happen:
🇺🇸 Polymarket just opened a market on who gets IMPEACHED by next June, and it reads like the seating chart for a Trump cabinet meeting. 😆
Pete Hegseth leads at 72%, with Rep. Massie already planning to force an impeachment vote next week.
Trump follows at 39%, ahead of AG Todd Blanche (30%), RFK Jr. (27%), Russ Vought (23%), Marco Rubio (19%) and Linda McMahon (18%).
Democrats don’t even take over the House until January, and the impeachment betting pool is already filling up.
