Black Crowes frontman slammed after shutting down ‘USA’ chant and calling fans ignorant

Backlash came quick for one band as an anti-patriotic sentiment and fan jeering appeared to prompt a walkout in Florida.

“Boo all you want to motherf*ckers!”

For years, it’s been evident that leading voices in entertainment have been embraced by the industry for spouting leftist talking points and promoting those ideologies. At a time when partisanship appeared to be curtailing a unified celebration of America’s 250th birthday, The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson saw fit to call his own fans “ignorant” for chanting “U.S.A.”

The incident occurred Sunday in Tampa, Florida, at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, reportedly after the band’s mascot was displayed dressed akin to Uncle Sam with a marijuana leaf instead of stars on his hat. Following the chants, Robinson ripped into fans, saying, “Yeah, cheers. Thanks for the geography lesson.”

“I don’t know what the f*ck you’re so proud about right now by the way,” he went on. “Boo all you want to motherf*ckers. Boo away. Some of us have real faith. And for those of you f*cking booing us, some of us are not afraid. And we most assuredly are not f*cking ignorant. So, thank you.”

While social media criticism did indeed follow the exchange, it seemed the band didn’t have to wait until after the show to bask in fans displeasure.

According to video obtained by TMZ, large swaths of the crowd could be seen departing the venue before the show was over, presumably in direct response to Robinson’s remarks.

Still, the outlet suggested that, for the time being, a ripple effect had not been noticed as the St. Augustine Amphitheatre owners, SJC Cultural Events, Inc., told TMZ on Tuesday ahead of The Black Crowes performance, “At this point, we have not had any request for refunds.”

In addition to criticism under videos from the show, commenters also flocked to a Monday post from the band as they shared a moment attending America’s pastime at Tropicana Field. Adorned with Tampa Bay Rays t-shirts and signing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” expletives filled the responses, such as, “Oh, now you want to be an American? F*ck you guys.”

The heated response to The Black Crowes — mixed with those who still support the band — comes as the majority of the roster that had been announced to perform in Washington, D.C. for America’s semiquincentennial had backed out, claiming the event was not the bipartisan celebration they had been sold on, along with citing safety concerns.

Meanwhile, aged entertainer Bruce Springsteen and his Trump Derangement Syndrome suffering peers had no qualms embracing Marxist imagery as part of a pre-midterm election show in Washington, D.C., in October. Presented by Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello — whose politics seemed to put him more in line with raging for the machine — the  Power to the People festival was set to include The Boss as a special guest to the Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Jack Black, and more.
