Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Anthony Bass was joined by his sister-in-law, country-pop singer Jessie James Decker in slamming United Airlines for humiliating his pregnant wife Sydney Rae Bass on a flight, forcing her to get on her hands and knees to clean up popcorn spilled by their 2-year-old.

The veteran reliever took to social media to excoriate United Airlines. He was infuriated that she had to get down on her “hands and knees” to pick up the popcorn. She was in tears, exhausted, and mortified as everyone watched her do so.

“The flight attendant @united just made my 22 week pregnant wife traveling with a 5 year old and 2 year old get on her hands and knees to pick up the popcorn mess by my youngest daughter,” Bass angrily tweeted. “Are you kidding me?!?!”

An attendant evidently approached the five-month-pregnant at-risk mother after seeing that the little one had dumped popcorn, handing her a bag and telling her that the captain wanted her to pick up every piece.

Some supported the pitcher’s outrage at United Airlines on Twitter but many didn’t and took the side of the airline in the matter.

“Genuinely curious who should clean up the mess your 2 year old made? As a parent of three kids I am the one responsible for them,” one person tweeted.

Jessie James Decker also defended her sister in a now-expired Instagram Story, according to the Daily Mail. Her sister claims that United Airlines gave her daughter the popcorn.

“My sister @sydneyraebass just texted me from her flight on @united,” Decker wrote in the post. “As you know, she is five months pregnant, high risk, and also traveling alone with her two small children.”

“Blaire accidentally spilled some popcorn in the aisle’ of the plane,” Decker wrote. “The flight attendant came up to Sydney with a trash bag, and a wet wipe, telling her the captain wants Syd to clean up every drop.”

She went on to recount that her sister had to get on her “hands and knees” and she said the humiliation of the event left her in tears.

“Way to go united,” she sarcastically wrote.

Decker voiced her support for her sister and family with a follow-up post that showed her snuggling up against little Blaire.

“Grabbed my sis and the popcorn hazard,” she quipped. “Yes, that’s what the flight attendant told my sister, the popcorn in the aisle is a safety hazard.”

Another post featured a video where Decker asked her sister about where the popcorn that Blaire spilled had come from.

“I’m thinking this whole time that the popcorn is something Syd just picked up [in the airport],” she commented as her sister told her it came from the crew.

“If popcorn is a hazard, why are they giving it on planes?” Decker asked.

It appears that the incident has since been resolved at least as far as Bass is concerned.

“Thank you everyone for the support. United Airlines is taking care of matters with the flight attendant internally,” Bass tweeted.
