U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) made it clear on Thursday that she is a definite “no” on supporting a Pentagon request for $200 billion in supplemental funding for the war against Iran.
“It takes money to kill bad guys. So we’re going back to Congress and our folks there to ensure that we’re properly funded for what’s being done for what we may have to do in the future, ensure that our ammunition is — everything’s refilled, and not just refilled, but above and beyond,” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said of the additional funding.
But Boebert is not buying into the request, echoing familiar concerns about the loss of focus on “America First” policies.
“I will not vote for a war supplemental,” the GOP lawmaker told CNN’s Manu Raju. “No. I am a no. I’ve already told leadership. I’m a no on any war supplementals. I am so tired of spending money elsewhere. I am tired of the industrial-war complex getting all of our hard-earned tax dollars.”

“I have folks in Colorado who can’t afford to live,” Boebert continued. “We need America First policies right now, and that? I’m not doing that.”
President Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that the requested funding was “a small price to pay to make sure that we stay tippy-top.”
“We’re asking for a lot of reasons, beyond even what we’re talking about in Iran,” the president said, “when this is a very volatile world, and the military equipment, the power of some of this weaponry, is unthinkable.”
Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters that Congress has a commitment to “adequately fund defense.”
“I’m sure it’s not a random number, so we’ll look at that,” Johnson said. “But obviously it’s a dangerous time in the world, and we have to adequately fund defense, and we have a commitment to do that.”
Asked Speaker Johnsok if he backs $200B for war and whether Congress should vote BEFORE any ground troops.
On whether Congress should vote first before any troops sent: “If we’re completing the mission, and it’s a limited scope, then that’s not a declaration of war,” he told me pic.twitter.com/dM2V97grIL

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
She’s just expressing what many other Americans feel. Enough with the wars. There’s always going to be a boogeyman.
Meanwhile the economy at home is in the dumps, infrastructure is old, energy costs aren’t going down, grocery prices aren’t going down.— I voted for DOGE (@AT_PDX_OR) March 20, 2026

I hope she stands firm but we know how these bloodthirsty gluttons work. If she doesn’t they’ll slander her.. or some sex scandal will come out about her… or they’ll say she leaked classified info.. you know the usual playbook.
