Bret Baier segment featuring McConnell saying Fox made a ‘mistake’ by airing J6 footage seems to undercut his own network

Fox News was engulfed by a firestorm of outrage after Tucker Carlson followed through on his pledge to air video coverage from January 6, 2021, which blows a smoking hole in the establishment narrative, and intense pressure was brought to bear against the network for what Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) blasted as “a mistake” in allowing the footage to be aired.

On Tuesday’s edition of “Special Report with Bret Baier,” the host featured the Kentucky Republican as well as other GOP members of Congress who joined their Democratic Party brethren in denouncing the long overdue transparency, seeming to undercut the network’s own bombshell.

“My concern is how it was depicted,” McConnell said of the incendiary footage, “It was a mistake in my view for Fox News to depict this in a way that’s completely at variance” with the chief of the U.S. Capitol Police’s account of the chaos at the Capitol.

“It was an attack on the Capitol,” Sen. John Thune (R-SD) said in remarks aired during Baier’s report.

Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) also cast a stone at Fox News and Carlson, “To somehow put that in the same category as a permitted peaceful protest is just a lie.”

Carlson’s Monday broadcast ignited a raging inferno of anger in Washington, D.C., and across regime media as the surveillance video footage previously unseen by the public showed police inside the Capitol acting as what the host described as “tour guides,” escorting Jacob Chansley aka the “QAnon Shaman” around the building.

Even more damaging to the official mythology of the so-called “insurrection” was video of USCP Officer Brian Sicknick routinely going about his business inside of the Capitol after an encounter with protesters who, according to media and Democrats, beat him with a fire extinguisher, leading to his tragic death.

“And to be clear, no one here at Fox News condones any of the violence that happened on Jan. 6,” Baier said at the end of the segment which also featured reporting from senior Congressional correspondent Chad Pergram explaining why Chansley was treated in such a chummy manner by Capitol Police.

The footage was nothing short of devastating after 26 solid months of distortions and outright lies about January 6, and the reaction from McConnell and his Dem Senate counterpart, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (R-NY) shows that Carlson hit the swamp where it really hurts.

While McConnell huffed his indignation, the top Senate Democrat went much farther with his demand that Fox News and Rupert Murdoch yank Carlson from the airwaves in order to prevent more footage from being seen by the public, a typically un-American reaction from a party that has all but fed the U.S. Constitution into a shredder.

The stakes couldn’t be higher with the official regime narrative as put forth by the now-defunct sham House J6 Committee that allowed for the government to define supporters of Donald J. Trump as violent, domestic extremists and disqualify the former president from ever again holding elective office has been imperiled by Carlson’s gift of transparency to the American people.
