A 62-year-old Texas man who was friends with numerous Fox News hosts was stabbed to death and nearly beheaded by a repeat black offender on Monday.
Andrew James Wimsatt, a 62-year-old engineer, was brutally stabbed to death only moments after he sat down on a park bench after visiting his mother at a nearby nursing home in Round Rock.
Surveillance footage reviewed by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office showed the suspect, 26-year-old Benedict Ogbodiegwu, approaching Wimsatt from behind and repeatedly stabbing him in the neck with a knife, causing the victim to fall/collapse to the ground, upon which time the attack continued.
“Ogbodiegwu then put his knee on the victim’s chest and started sawing the knife across Wimsatt’s neck” in an attempt to behead him, according to the Austin American-Statesman. When that failed, he fled the scene.
Wimsatt was found dead near the park bench after a witness called 911. Ogbodiegwu and the knife he’d used in the attack were found in a nearby home. He was taken into custody on a murder charge.

Records indicate that Ogbodiegwu is a repeat offender.
“Ogbodiegwu has a criminal record in Williamson County going back to at least 2017, when he was charged with stealing,” according to Fox News. “He had two prior arrests this year, on charges involving theft and carrying fake identification.”
Wimsatt was a beloved figure known to a number of Fox News personalities, including Greg Gutfeld.
“He was one of the sweetest most helpful persons I’ve ever met,” Gutfeld tweeted about Wimsatt on Thursday. “Supremely gentle. Willing to do just about anything for another person.”
“And he was stabbed to death on a street at 11 am in the morning,” the Fox News host added. “For no reason other than a maniac was free to roam the streets. Rest in peace Andrew. We won’t forget you.”
Fox News host Kat Timpf also paid tribute to him:

“Andrew was a fan who became a friend,” she tweeted. “Andrew was a rare person: Genuinely kind just for the sake of it; it quite clearly never occurred to him to expect anything in return.”
“I am haunted and horrified thinking of his final moments, and beyond furious that this was the end the world gave him, the same world that he’d always gone out of his way to make a better place,” she added. “We all love you Andrew, and we always will. Your kindness made you a legend.”
Meanwhile, during Friday’s edition of Fox News’ “The Five,” which Gutfeld co-hosts, he slammed the media for completely ignoring Wimsatt’s murder to instead focus on a bunch of fake lynchings of black men and women who committed suicide.

As of Saturday morning, not a single mainstream media outlet had covered Wimsatt’s murder except for Fox News.
“The crime, to me, is so heinous and shocking that I’m still trying to comprehend it,” Gutfeld told Fox News in separate remarks. “I may never.”
He added that he was suspicious of Wimsatt when the show “Gutfeld!” first launched and Wimsatt came out as a huge fan of it.
“At first, I was suspicious, because I always assume people do things because they want things,” he said. “I was wrong with Andrew. He did stuff for people — lots of people — because he enjoyed being of service, and promoting stuff that he genuinely enjoys and believes in.”
