Caitlyn Jenner weighed in on the controversy over the locker room policy of a suburban San Diego YMCA after a 17-year-old girl said that she was “terrified” after seeing a naked biological male when she was getting out of the shower.
The former Olympic gold medal winner known worldwide as Bruce Jenner, who now identifies as a woman and has the financial means to look much like a woman, appeared on “Fox News at Night” to say the trans community has “to have some discretion.”
Rebecca Philips, 17, shared an earlier encounter she had with a naked man who purports to be a woman during last week’s city council meeting in Santee, Calif.
“As I was showering after my workout, I saw a naked male in the women’s locker room,” she said. “I immediately went back into the shower terrified and hid behind [a] flimsy excuse for a curtain until he was gone.”
Jenner disagrees with protestors supporting the YMCA policy, noting that “things have changed so drastically, especially over the last 10 or 15 years when it comes to this issue and it’s a shame.”
“What happened is California changed the laws, ok? You see that in government and you also see it at universities. You also see it in the marketplace. Big companies are changing policies when it comes to trans issues and it just isn’t good,” Jenner added. “I just don’t feel it, because in this case right here, you know, what I feel like here in California, bad people are using these very liberal civil rights laws as kind of a loophole to victimize people.”
“Take advantage of them, that’s exactly what happened here,” Jenner continued. “I don’t want my daughter in a locker room with some guy walking around parading himself proud as can be with all of his manhood hanging out. It’s just not right. Young people don’t deserve to have to go through something like that. And this guy is a pervert. I mean how — if you’re in the trans community, you have to have some discretion. You have to have a little bit of class. You just can’t do these things. Honestly, it’s just not right.”
Jenner would go on to suggest that only a “very small group” of trans activists have “hijacked” society, and insisted there are “so many good people in the trans community. I mean, just loads of them. Smart, intelligent, discreet. Go through transition with class and dignity and do it right.”
