Carville doubles down on theory Trump trying to deliberately throw midterms

Crotchety Democrat strategist James Carville is doubling down on his wild conspiracy theory that President Donald J. Trump is deliberately trying to throw the midterm elections.

Even though the president is going all-in on a late barnstorming tour to save Republicans from losing control of Congress, the “Ragin’ Cajun’ sees something that others don’t and is sticking to his guns that Trump is tanking it.

On the latest edition of his “Politics War Room” podcast, the 81-year-old crank and co-host Al Hunt discussed Trump’s recent remarks, which critics claim were about Iran potentially nuking San Diego and Los Angeles, insisting it was an invitation for the Islamic Republic to kill millions of people who live in the two California cities.

“And again, remember, with the war, it’s just artificial,” Trump said at a Monday rally in Nebraska. “It’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe. They could take out a city. Let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego.”

“I just gotta keep asking the same question,” Carville said. “Is Trump trying to lose? I mean, there’s nothing that he does that is consistent with trying to win.”

“He is the central issue in the campaign. He dominates everything, but I gotta keep asking, is he trying to do this? Does he just want to screw the congressional Republicans? Does he hate ’em? I don’t know,” he added.

“There’s some other explanation for this behavior,” Carville continued. “It might be that he’s just out of his god d*mn mind.”

“Who knows, but he is a man of real grievances, and this behavior — the only thing that could really explain it is that he’s clinically insane, or he wants the Republicans to lose,” he added. “I don’t think there’s any other explanation for it.”

Trump clarified his controversial remarks at another rally in Texas on Wednesday.

“Let them hit San Diego. Let them hit Los Angeles if you want to see some bad things happen. You want to see a country that would be in free fall?” Trump told the crowd, adding, “We’re not going to let that happen. We protect our cities. We protect our country. We’re not letting that happen.”

Carville has previously floated his conspiracy theory of Trump sabotaging the GOP.

“Trump says people shouldn’t worry about AI, just go full speed ahead, he says that the troops killed in Iran can’t get certain benefits because we hadn’t declared war,” the salty-tongued mastermind behind Bill Clinton’s 1992 victory said during a September episode of his podcast. “The only answer that I can come up with that explains the current behavior of Donald Trump is simply this, he wants the Republicans to lose.”
