Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s latest attempt to score points in the culture war came with some pious blowback when a Texas Bishop slammed the “evil woman” after a startling analogy of pro-life supporters and war criminals.
Following the overturn of Roe v. Wade, progressives have continued to see the promotion of abortion as a winning issue for campaigns and fundraising. Clinton demonstrated this Thursday when she joined Christiane Amanpour on PBS’s “Amanpour and Company” to discuss the Clinton Presidential Center’s summit on global women’s rights.
As highlighted by NewsBusters Alex Christy, when asked about comments she had made in the past about “unfinished business,” Clinton was all too happy to smear pro-life advocates as akin to wartime rapists in the Middle East and Ukraine, seemingly referring to Russians.
“We have come a long way since I made that statement, back in 1995, on so many fronts. But we are also in a period of time where there is a lot of pushback and much of the progress that has been, I think, taken for granted by too many people is under attack,” she said before offering her juxtaposition. “Literally under attack, in places like Iran or Afghanistan or Ukraine, where rape is a tactic of war, or under attack by political and cultural forces in a country like our own, when it comes to women’s health care and bodily autonomy.”

Taking the comments as a vile attack on faithful adherents to Christianity on matters of the sanctity of life, Bishop Joseph Strickland of the Catholic Diocese of Tyler, TX refused to remain silent.
Taking to Twitter, the bishop shared an article by Christy about the interview as it appeared on LifeNews.com and captioned the post, “Please, please don’t listen to this evil woman. Her lies and immorality need to be silenced for the good of humanity.”
Clinton’s comment was not a one-time happenstance either as she was heard making a similar statement during the summit, “It’s so shocking to think that in any way we’re related to poor Afghanistan and Sudan. But as an advanced economy, as we allegedly are, on this measure, we unfortunately are rightly put with them.”
Regarding abortion laws in those two nations, both make exceptions to bans to protect the life of the mother and Sudan also makes exceptions in instances of rape.
Rather than heed the message in Strickland’s post, the Twitter mob saw fit to attack him for his faith and accused him of inciting violence.

Rather than rescind his statement, Strickland clarified in a later tweet that he in no way was calling for violence against Clinton, “Of course to be pro-life is to respect the life of even those who attack unborn children, violence is never the answer. Let us pray for the conversion of all who promote the murder of unborn children but when they speak lies we must counter with the truth.”
