Border czar Tom Homan welcomed the chance for “discussion” with leaders of the Catholic Church amid a feud between the White House and the Vatican, finding himself reaffirming one issue:
“They don’t know what they’re talking about.”

In recent days, President Donald Trump and Pope Leo XIV remained publicly at odds over administration polices, chief among them being Operation Epic Fury and the stated objective to prevent Iran from possessing a nuclear weapon. Meanwhile, lingering criticism of the president’s efforts to restore national sovereignty was the focus for Homan when asked about the recent controversy.
When the since-deleted AI image shared by the chief executive, which left many crying blasphemy, was brought up, Homan replied, “Look, I’m not gonna speak for the president. I’m speaking for myself, a lifelong Catholic. I wish they’d stay out of immigration.”
“They don’t know what they’re talking about,” he asserted. “Because if they wore my shoes for 40 years and talked to a nine-year-old girl that got raped multiple times, or stood in the back of a tractor-trailer with 19 dead aliens at my feet, including a five-year-old boy that baked to death — if they understood the atrocities that happened on the open border, I think their opinion would change.”
“And I welcome discussion with any of them because they don’t understand illegal immigration is not a victimless crime,” continued the border czar. “Where President Trump has the most secure border in the lifetime of this nation, right now, lives are being saved. He’s saving thousands of lives a year because he has a secure border. Human traffickers are out of business, right? The cartels are going bankrupt because of that secure border. I wish they’d understand that, because if they did, I think they’d have a different opinion.”
Homan previously responded to a statement on immigration issued by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops by declaring, “The Catholic Church is wrong.”
The USCCB ran with talking points, stating in part, “We are troubled by threats against the sanctity of houses of worship and the special natures of hospitals and schools. We are grieved when we meet parents who fear being detained when taking their children to school, and when we try to console family members who have already been separated from their loved ones.”
Homan replied, “So, according to them, the message which is sent to the world is: if you cross the border illegally, which is a crime, don’t worry about it. If you get ordered removed by a federal judge after due process, don’t worry about it, cause there shouldn’t be mass deportations. Is that the message we send the whole world?”
Corporate media has appeared keen on further fomenting discord for Catholics as CBS News’ “60 Minutes” released an interview over the weekend with Cardinals Blase Cupich, Robert McElroy, and Joseph Tobin — known for questionable positions in opposition to traditional Catholic teaching — where they advanced disfavor for Trump.
In addition to Cupich contending the administration was behaving in “gamification” of the conflict in the Middle East, McElroy positioned himself as in favor of strong borders but against the president’s means to achieve that end.
“This is a roundup of people throughout the country. People who have been living good, strong lives, been here a long time, raised their children here, many of their children born here, and are citizens. That’s what our objection is,” said the Washington, D.C. cardinal as his Chicago peer suggested Catholic voters might feel differently. “I would like to know what Catholics feel about this indiscriminate mass deportation. I- I think that it’s very clear the American people are saying, ‘We really didn’t vote for this.'”
Given a recent audience afforded to Democratic strategist David Axelrod, which left many suspecting a sit-down with former President Barack Obama was on the horizon, journalist Megan Basham opined amid support for Homan’s strong stance, “It would be wonderful to see @Pontifex take Homan up on this offer. If he can make time for Axelrod, he should make time to get a better understanding of immigration enforcement from an expert with decades of experience on the ground.”

Will the Pope listen to a lifelong Catholic like Homan instead of coddling lifelong opponents of Catholic morality like Axelrod and leading Democrats?

What offends are politicians and clerics dragging the Pope into the political mudsling in Washington D.C. Embarrassing and diminishes Congress and the Catholic Church.
