‘Chief Spends-a lot’ Elizabeth Warren ridiculed for disingenuous ‘shrinkflation’ announcement

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren was dragged on social media after reminding everyone that she is “fighting back” on the crisis of “shrinkflation.”

Never mind that the current disaster that is the U.S. economy was brought about by crushing policies courtesy of President Joe Biden and his administration. Or that obedient Democrats like Warren greenlighted the spending of trillions of dollars in a debt that will burden generations in the future.

“Corporate executives thought we wouldn’t notice this. They were wrong. And I’m fighting back by working to pass the Shrinkflation Prevention Act,” the Massachusetts Democrat wrote on X in response to an NPR piece about the package downsizing phenomenon.

Evidently, Warren heeded Biden’s call in his State of the Union speech urging Congress to deal with “shrinkflation” by partnering with fellow Democrat Bob Casey of Pennsylvania to co-sponsor legislation empowering the Federal Trade Commission to target companies guilty of what she called “price-gouging.”

“I understand if companies’ prices have gone up and they pass it on, some of that pricing, to the consumer, I totally get that. But that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about price gouging,” she said on ABC’s “GMA3” earlier this month.

“The bill follows recent reports on the effects of corporate greed on product size and rising inflation, and comes as companies continue to rake in super-sized profits by either raising prices excessively or shrinking the products they sell – all at the expense of American consumers,” a February press release noted.

Warren was buried under mockery on X as users gave her a much-needed economics lesson.
