The topics of “wokeness” and forgiveness found comedian Chris Rock turning to the Bible and the Salem witch trials after recently finding agreement with President Donald Trump.

After cutting the brake line on shifting the Overton Window, the rise of radical dominance on the left has seen a desperate attempt at shifting the narrative and slowing the descent down the slippery slope to full-blown Marxism. While promoting his latest film “Misty Green,” Rock was confronted with the notion that “Woke 1.0 was crazy,” leading him to open up about a friend who was canceled while asserting, “we’re in the Old Testament right now.”
During a lengthy discussion with David Marchese for The New York Times podcast “The Interview,” which premiered over the weekend, the topic of forgiveness found the entertainer sharing a personal story about loyalty regarding an unnamed friend who felt the wrath of the outrage mob.
“Another friend of mine was like, ‘How can you be friends with that person?’ and I was like, ‘If you’re only friends with your friends when they’re good, they’re not your friends,'” expressed Rock, who went on to assert, “I’m not religious, but I’m a Christian, and God forgives. That’s what it’s all about.”
“The problem with ‘wokeness’ — and don’t get me wrong, it is great that marginalized people have a voice; it is great to advocate for anybody that feels marginalized, this is great — but the problem is we’re in the Old Testament right now,” he argued. “And the Old Testament has no forgiveness. The Old Testament didn’t work, so they had to write a remix called the New Testament.”
When Marchese specifically addressed how some have said “Woke 1.0 was crazy,” including New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D), Rock turned to historical persecution and said, “Again, it’s great to help those that need help … we need more of that. The problem is when you institutionalize it. That’s the problem.”
“So, my half a joke — the Salem Witch Hunts. I’m sure the first three witches they caught were actually f*cking witches,” contended the comedian. “But then you open up a witch office, and now you gotta start lying. Now, you gotta f*cking make sh*t up ’cause you got overhead.”
The moderate posture on the political landscape came in the wake of Rock telling Variety during a September interview that the president was correct in criticizing corporate media. “I’m not a fan. But it’s weird when somebody gets one thing right, and the one thing almost clears them of all their other sins. The news is fake. He got that right.”
While some were critical of the comedian for not speaking out sooner, others complimented him for the comparison.
