Crowd meets up in quiet NYC neighborhood, lights car on fire, beats homeowners

A car meet-up in New York City ended in one vehicle being set on fire and two people being severely beaten.

The chaos in NYC continues to rage out of control, as evidenced by an “illegal ‘takeover’ of a quiet residential street” that took place on early Sunday morning. Local Councilwoman Vickie Paladino posted about the incident, as well as the two men who were violently battered for attempting to reason with the entitled thugs.

“Last night in Malba, a large group of individuals from outside my district conducted an illegal ‘takeover’ of a quiet residential street at approximately 12:30 am. This is not the first time it’s happened,” she wrote. “A private security guard attempted to calm the situation — he was assaulted by the mob, and his vehicle was set on fire. He suffered significant injuries. A local resident was also assaulted.”

She is referring to 59-year-old Larry Rusch, who owns a security company, according to the New York Post. He described the scene as “a complete melee” during which his vehicle was set on fire. He explained that “he first heard the reckless drivers performing donuts and rushed outside to see about 40 cars.” He parked his company’s vehicle at an intersection in an attempt to control the scene.

“As soon as I did that, everyone started leaving,” Rusch said. “Then two individuals go up to the car. Somehow, they threw some kind of firework or something and lit the car up. Then melee started again.”

The other man involved was Blake Ferrer, who was viciously assaulted by the mob after telling them to leave his property when he saw them speeding over his lawn.

“When I came out, I said, ‘Bro, you gotta get the f–k off my property,’ and that’s when it all started,” the man revealed.

“Video shows a group of about a dozen ruffians kicking, punching, and stomping Ferrer, who was left with a broken nose and ribs. His wife was also hit,” the Post reported.

“Response to this incident was less than ideal. Residents reporting the incident to 911 were told that the ‘quality of life team’ and 311 should handle the situation. Unacceptable. In fact, these violent street takeovers should be met with maximum force by the police department,” Paladino wrote on X. “We have NEVER had these problems before. Now it’s an epidemic. What changed? We stopped arresting criminals.”

The councilwoman called out the lack of real consequences for criminals as the main source behind the explosion of crime in the city.

“These incidents are happening citywide, and they’re happening because there are no longer any real consequences to this kind of criminality. But let me make something very clear to the criminals — you are risking your lives bringing this chaos into our neighborhoods,” she added. “I know for a fact there were multiple armed residents who exercised extreme restraint last night; however, that level of restraint is not guaranteed. If the city refuses to do what’s necessary, the people might.”

She continued to post videos of the shocking takeover, where participants showed a disturbing disregard for safety and personal property:
