Defiant Don Lemon claims he has no regrets days after his barely-acknowledged ouster: ‘I’m a survivor’

Former CNN host Don Lemon called himself a “survivor” at the TIME100 gala event on Wednesday, claiming that he has “no regrets” after being terminated at the leftist network on Monday and telling his interviewer that he plans to sit on a beach somewhere next.

Lemon, 57, claims that he “owns” his actions. He was unceremoniously fired on the same day that conservative icon Tucker Carlson was canned at Fox News. The difference is that Carlson has unlimited options and is in high demand whereas Lemon is now out of the leftist cool kids club.

He told Tommy DiDario who is with Extra TV at the event that he was “stunned” to find out he was being let go by the network after 17 years.

“I live my life with no regrets. I did what I did and I own it, and so no, I don’t look back and I don’t want to change things in the past,” an unrepentant Lemon told the media outlet.

“There are lots of things that come your way that are unexpected, but I’m a survivor. I come from strong, sturdy stock in Louisiana and a lot of people are rooting for me and who love me. Life goes on. That’s behind me and we’ll see what happens in the future,” he commented.

Lemon also said that he’s not looking to immediately go back to work. Instead, he plans on having a stress-free summer on the beach, enjoying it like a 12-year-old with his boyfriend and family.

“I’m gonna spend my summer on the beach and on the boat, and with my family,” he said to Extra. “Just chill out and then I’ll see what happens next, but I’m fortunate enough to be in a position where I can do that.”

“I am excited for a new chapter, because I think, you know, life is short and whatever life hands you, you have to bob and weave and do it,” he said in the interview.

The former CNN talking head brought up losing his sister when she died and his father passing away from diabetes. He also claimed that he’s leaning “a lot” on his boyfriend, Tim Malone, for support.

Lemon announced his departure from CNN on Twitter Monday, “‘I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network.”

It is clear that there are some larger issues at play. With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best,” he concluded.

CNN claims that what Lemon says happened didn’t. They assert that his “statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate. He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

The morning that Lemon was booted, he signed off from his morning show at 8:56 am, saying “Bye everyone” and waving. A little over three hours later, he was gone.

A source told the Daily Mail, “Don was given every indication when he made the fake a** apology for his disgusting comments and, still, no one wanted anything to do with him. No one owes him anything. He should have had the decency to not be a misogynistic, sexist POS.”

“Don truly believed he was going to always get a get out of jail free card because he is black and gay, which worked to his advantage until it couldn’t. It doesn’t matter what color you are or what your sexuality is. He lost the respect of all of the women on staff, and no one wanted to work with him. Even after this, he still acted no differently and would give the women he worked with attitude because he could sense that they felt a certain way still. Good riddance and good luck getting a job elsewhere,” the source brutally added.
