Disney working on new trilogy with rumored plot to feature character cheating on a princess

Disney is reportedly developing a new “Descendants” trilogy that features infidelity, and the public doesn’t appear to be feeling it.

The first and original “Descendants” film premiered in 2015 and featured the children of Disney villains Cruella de Vil, Jafar, the Evil Queen, and Maleficent.

“It was a massive success and it ultimately launched a huge franchise containing many more movies and shows that follow the story of famous Disney characters’ children,” as reported by the Daily Mail.

According to Beyond Reporter, an account on the social media platform X, a new “Descendants” trilogy is in “early development.”

According to this account, the new trilogy will feature the children of other villains from films like “The Princess and the Frog,” “Moana,” “Frozen,” “Tangled,” “The Little Mermaid,” and “Encanto.”

In addition, the main characters will be Princess Tatum Rogers, who Beyond Reporter identified as “Tiana’s daughter,” and her “love interest.”

“Her love interest is rumored to be the son of Flynn Rider. The twist is that Flynn apparently had a child with a villain at one point, creating this new character,” Beyond reporter added.

The Daily Mail notes that “Flynn [Rider] famously rescued and married Disney princess Rapunzel in the hit film Tangled.”

Meaning that if he “had a child with a villain at one point,” then he cheated on Disney princess Rapunzel at some point.

This did not make critics happy.

According to the chat AI bot Grok, infidelity is “extremely rare” in Disney films.

“Disney’s storytelling, especially in its classic era, prioritizes fairy-tale romance, family values, and clear moral lines, making adultery a narrative taboo,” the bot notes. “Infidelity appears in 0% of Disney animated canon films. The closest you get is emotional tension or unrequited love—never a married character cheating.”

The reason is mainly because Disney’s films are targeted toward young, impressionable children.

However, Disney has become slightly less family values-oriented over the years, aligning with the wider “woke” movement in America. But there has been some reversal in recent years. For example, last year Disney removed a transgender storyline from one of its Pixar streaming series.

“When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline,” a Disney rep said at the time, as reported by NBC News.
