‘Disturbing’ percentage of Democrats want Elon Musk imprisoned for cutting gov’t waste

A stunning 71 percent of Democrat voters support imprisoning Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) boss Elon Musk, according to a new poll.

Conducted by Rasmussen Reports and the Heartland Institute, the poll found that 71 percent of Democrat voters and a whopping 80 percent of self-identified “liberals” would “support a hypothetical law that would imprison Elon Musk for his role in DOGE.”

Justin Haskins, a senior fellow at The Heartland Institute and the poll’s primary author, was stunned by the finding.

“The fact that a majority of Democratic voters would support imprisoning Elon Musk for trying to make government more efficient is a shocking indictment of the modern left, which has become increasingly more tyrannical in recent years,” he said.

“We’ve reached a point where many Americans would rather unjustly punish innovation than fix the broken systems Musk was trying to reform,” he added.

Chris Talgo, the Heartland Institute’s editorial director, concurred.

“It is quite disturbing that more than 70 percent of Democrats think Elon Musk should be put in prison for his efforts to cut waste, fraud, and abuse within the bloated federal budget,” he said. “Musk should be lauded for his leadership at the Department of Government Efficiency, which has saved taxpayers more than $160 billion so far.”

“It is sad to see that Musk’s reputation and businesses have suffered as a result of his work to streamline the federal government. Elon Musk has shown great courage and ought to be applauded, not imprisoned,” he added.

Even more troubling is the finding that among all likely voters, 54 percent would support imprisoning Musk. This strongly suggests that the left-wing establishment press’ anti-Musk propaganda is, sadly, working.

The left-wing establishment resents Musk’s DOGE work because they’re big government statists who want to see the federal government grow bigger and take an even more active role in every American’s life.

Musk warned in October that the left’s exaggerated rhetoric about him was posing an increasing threat to his life. He issued the warning after the German outlet Der Spiegel branded him “Public Enemy No. 2.”

“I’m like, enemy number 2 of what? Uh, democracy?” he said at the time at a Pennsylvania rally for Sen. Dave McCormick. “I mean, I’m pro-democracy. I’m literally trying to uphold the Constitution and ensure we have a free and fair election.”

“I’m definitely upgrading my security. Guess I better cancel that open-car parade,” he added, referring to the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy that journalists have previously joked about in connection with President Donald Trump.

The poll also found that 68 percent of Democrat voters would “support a hypothetical law that would ban Elon Musk from serving in government.”

The results of the poll were essentially reversed for members of the right, with 54 percent of Republican voters and 57 percent of “conservative” voters expressing opposition to jailing Musk.

Similarly, 59 percent of Republican voters and 61 percent of “conservative” voters expressed opposition to the proposal of a law banning Musk from serving in government.

Responding to the poll’s results, conservatives on social media echoed much of what Haskins and Talgo had to say.
