Climate change zealots who are claiming that wildfires are proof of the coming weather doomsday are ignoring a big and very obvious contributing factor to the spate of blazes, most recently, the inferno in Canadian forests that has smoked-out portions of the eastern United States, and a former cabinet member of the Trump administration explains what they are missing.
With even President Joe Biden blaming the fires in Canada on climate change, joining far-left members of Congress like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) who never misses a chance to advance the Green New Deal hustle, a non-biased expert explained to Fox News Digital that the poor forest management policies favored by eco-crazies are creating perfect conditions for the fires to rage out of control.
“To be candid, if you look at these issues throughout the United States and Canada, over time, it’s possible that climate is changing,” former Interior Secretary David Bernhardt told the outlet. “At the same time, you can say that forest management practices in many places have contributed greatly to having a much higher fuel load, and fuel loads are a large driver of catastrophic wildfire.”
“Those factors are not necessarily mutually exclusive,” he added.

While the former Trump administration cabinet secretary said that changes in the climate have been one factor in extending the fire season, he pointed out that the failure to properly manage forests, such as not clearing old growth and brush, is an overlooked cause of the destructive wildfires.
“If you don’t use methodologies to clear some of that excess product out, that just is sitting there, literally, as a tinderbox box for a match,” Bernhardt said. “In this case, what we’re seeing from Canada … is fires that are largely caused by lightning strikes with an element of a very, very high fuel load.”
On Tuesday, with her hometown of New York City blanketed with smoke that turned Gotham into a surreal scene with video and images posted to social media looking like a “Blade Runner” movie, Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to whip up her followers about the coming climate apocalypse because of the Canadian wildfires and also due to the fact that it happens to be hotter than Hell in Puerto Rico during the summertime.
“Between NYC in wildfire smoke and this in PR, it bears repeating how unprepared we are for the climate crisis,” the socialist diva wrote. “We must adapt our food systems, energy grids, infrastructure, healthcare, etc ASAP to prepare for what’s to come and catch up to what is already here.”

The fearmonger-in-chief also exploited the fires north of the border to push the global warming climate armageddon narrative that serves as the basis for his regime’s radical transformation of America into the socialist dystopia that eco-kooks insist is necessary to stave off doom on a planetary level.

Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT) who held the Interior Secretary job before Bernhardt, expressed “zero sympathy for D.C. politicians complaining about the smoke.”
“Whether you’re a climate change activist or denier, it doesn’t relieve you of the responsibility to manage our forests,” he said. “And if you don’t manage our forests, this is what happens. So welcome to Montana, Washington D.C.”

“Washington, D.C. and New York just got a little bit of a taste,” Bernhardt, who is from Colorado, told Fox News.
“You can see very significant differences between privately managed forests that take advantage of these practices and federal and state lands that don’t,” he said. “The consequence of catastrophic fire are so different and so significant.”
“The reality is that most people that work on these lands have a very good sense of what the true impact of catastrophic wildfire is and the causes and the need to address the fuel load,” Bernhardt added.
