Elizabeth Warren-spawned CFPB is hiring despite shutdown, gov’t layoffs – report

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is hiring despite the government shutdown that has resulted in the furloughing of over a million federal employees and has forced the Trump administration to further cut the fat with mass layoffs.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the controversial agency is looking to hire attorney-advisors for the  legal division of the Office of Litigation, with the CFPB being “able to exploit a loophole that exists because the bureau is funded by the Federal Reserve Bank rather than directly by Congress.”

The agency is the brainchild of Senator Elizabeth (D-MA), who proposed it back when she was still in academia, a field in which she was able to thrive after she grossly exaggerated her Native American heritage to advance her career, earning her the moniker of “Pocahontas,” the sarcastic nickname given to her by President Donald J. Trump.

The outlet cites the financial services publication American Banker, which first reported on the CFPB’s staffing news, stating that “a higher volume of litigation necessitates the hiring of more defense and appellate counsel.”

“The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is hiring attorneys to defend the agency in appellate litigation,” according to the New York-based trade publication. “A shortage of attorneys could delay rulemakings and weaken the agency’s defense in federal courts.”

According to the Daily Mail, the recruitment plan “will heap pressure on the embattled agency after it faced a costly racial discrimination lawsuit last year and a major data breach in 2023.”

However, it’s questionable whether any new CFPB hires will ever see a government paycheck, with White House Budget Director Russell Vought stating that he wants to shut the agency down within the next two to three months.

“People say consumer financial protection – don’t we want to protect consumers? Absolutely. This agency wasn’t doing it – it had the DNA of Elizabeth Warren,” Vought said on Wednesday’s edition of “The Charlie Kirk Show,” referring to the ethically challenged Democrat moonbat.

“All they want to do is weaponize the tools of financial laws against basically small mom-and-pop lenders and other small financial institutions,” he added, according to Reuters.

Vought’s remarks predictably triggered Warren, who isn’t taking kindly to the idea that her prized papoose could be on the chopping block.

“Americans have gotten more than $21 billion back in their bank accounts after being cheated and scammed by big corporations, thanks to the CFPB,” she wrote in a Wednesday post to X. “But Trump and his Administration love grifters and scammers. So they’re trying to kill the agency holding them accountable.”

“That was set up to destroy people. She used that as her little personal agency to go around and destroy people. She’s a fake, just like she said she was an Indian,” Trump said of the “nasty woman” and the weaponized agency in remarks from the Oval Office earlier this year.
