Elon Musk recounts SNL appearance, rejection of his skit idea to pull ‘baby rooster’ from his pants

A behind-the-scenes account of a “Saturday Night Live” pitch found Elon Musk “worried… nothing was funny” as his skit idea for the show to prove it was “live” was met with “crickets.”

When not spearheading projects to put men on Mars, tackling authoritarians opposed to free speech, or introducing revolutionized technologies to the masses, the world’s richest man is known for a sense of humor that includes jokes about “420” and “69.”

However, the cast of “SNL” was evidently less enamored with what Musk found funny as the billionaire explained his intention to “take my c*ck out” during the live broadcast.

Joining the hosts of the “All-In Podcast” at their All-In Summit 2024, Jason Calacanis prompted the tech mogul to share his experience from his 2021 appearance on the long-running sketch show as Musk recalled, “I was a bit worried in the beginning there because, frankly, nothing was funny.”

From there, the SpaceX founder and CEO explained how during a virtual meeting the Monday leading up to his gig, he began presenting his idea for a skit, “So, one of the things that I think everyone’s been sort of wondering this whole time is, is ‘Saturday Night Live’ actually live.”

“But there’s a way to test this. There’s a way to test this, which is, we don’t tell ’em what’s going on, I walk on and so, this is the script. I throw it on the ground. We’re going to find out tonight, right now, if ‘Saturday Night Live’ is actually live,” he enthusiastically continued retelling the presentation of his idea. “And the way that we’re going to do this is I’m going to take my c*ck out.”

As the hosts and audience laughed, Musk added, “And if you see my c*ck, you know it’s true. And if you don’t, it’s been a lie.”

However, the reaction from the team at “SNL” was less excited about the sophomoric gag, despite having yet to hear how the bit would continue, “So, we come in like, like just like, guns blazing with like, ideas, and we didn’t realize, like, actually, you know, that’s not how it works. And that it’s only, like, actors, and they just get told what to do and like, oh, well, you mean we can’t just, like, do funny things that we thought of?”

The dead silence from the actors and writers was described during the meeting as “crickets” before Musk added, “So, there’s more to it, okay? That’s just the beginning… So I say, like, I’m gonna reach down into my pants, and I’ll stick my hand in my pants and I’m going to pull out my c*ck. And I told this to the audience, and the audience is going to be like, ‘Guh-whaaa?’ and then I pull out a baby rooster. You know, and it’s like, okay, this is kind of PG, you know, it’s not that bad. This is my tiny c*ck.”

The billionaire’s vision further involved then-cast member Kate McKinnon joining him on a stage holding a cat with an innuendo-laced exchange about “stroking” one another’s respective animals to which Musk was reminded, “Well, it is Mother’s Day… It might be uncomfortable for all the moms in the audience.”

Reactions online were mixed, but many enjoyed both the entrepreneur’s humor and the way he told the story.
