Ex-Biden suitcase thief Sam Brinton arrested ‘as fugitive from justice’

Sam Brinton, the former senior Department of Energy official who often dressed in women’s clothing, has been arrested for allegedly stealing luggage yet again.

The ousted “nonbinary” nuclear official was arrested as a “fugitive from justice” by Maryland police late Wednesday, according to Fox News. Citing a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police, the network reported that “the arrest was related to the theft of airport luggage, the third such criminal case involving Brinton.”

“Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police executed a search warrant May 17 in Montgomery County, Maryland, in connection with allegations of stolen property in luggage from Reagan National Airport that was brought to the department’s attention in February 2023,” MWAA spokesperson James Johnson said.

“With the assistance of Montgomery County Police, Samuel Otis Brinton, age 35, of Rockville, Maryland, was taken into custody Wednesday pending charges of Grand Larceny,” Johnson added.

Using proper pronouns, Montgomery County Police Department spokesperson Shiera Goff told Fox News: “Brinton was arrested at approximately 10 p.m. last night in their home on College Parkway. They are being held in the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit on a no-bond status as they await an extradition hearing. That’s all of the information we have on our end.”

Brinton managed to escape jail time last month in two separate cases in Minnesota and Nevada involving luggage thefts, despite facing up to 15 years in prison.

More from Fox News:

Police charged Brinton in October with stealing a traveler’s baggage worth a total of $2,325 from the luggage carousel at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport after flying in from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 16.

And in early December, Las Vegas prosecutors charged Brinton with grand larceny of an item valued between $1,200 and $5,000. Police accused Brinton of stealing a suitcase with a total estimated worth of $3,670 on July 6 at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. The bag contained jewelry valued at $1,700, clothing worth $850 and makeup valued at $500.

And there is also the case involving Asia Odorous Khamsin, a Tanzanian fashion designer who said her luggage had been stolen from Reagan National Airport in 2018 on the way to a fashion show. Khamsin appeared on Tucker Carlson’s now-former show on Fox News to recount her experience and point out that Brinton was later pictured wearing one of her one-of-a-kind designs that had been in the suitcase.

Brinton has yet to be charged with any crimes related the Houston-based designer’s stolen luggage, but the case has reportedly been referred to the FBI.

Appearing via CCTV from Montgomery County jail, Brinton was “temporarily” represented by a public defender though ineligible, according to Daily Wire reporter Luke Rosial. The judge ordered him to be extradited to Virginia and court documents listed his gender as “X.”

In the end, as was astutely noted on social media, it all adds up to “just too much baggage” for the former Biden official… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on Twitter:
