Explosive details emerge on Israel’s claims that UN employees assisted in 10/7 Hamas terror attack

Details are emerging about Israel’s shocking claims against a dozen employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), who they say actively assisted Hamas terrorists as they savagely attacked Israeli citizens on October 7, 2023.

According to a dossier reviewed by The New York Times, one UNRWA employee allegedly kidnapped a woman. Another is accused of passing out ammunition to Hamas militants. And one UNRWA staffer is said to have taken part in a kibbutz slaughter that left 97 people dead.

“And all were said to be employees of the United Nations aid agency that schools, shelters and feeds hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip,” The Times reports.

The dossier was presented to the U.S. government, and, as BizPac Review reported, UNRWA has since “severed ties” with the employees and the Biden administration, along with seven (at the time of the report) other nations, has paused funding for the agency, but The Times report provides the first look at the details surrounding Israel’s claims.

In all, nine nations have suspended their funding of UNRWA, according to a Monday update from The Times. In addition to the U.S. — UNRWA’s largest donor — they include: Germany, Japan, Canada, the Netherlands, Britain, Australia, and Finland.

United Nations Secretary General António Guterres said on Sunday that he is “horrified by these accusations.” He confirmed that nine of the 12 accused employees have been fired. UNRWA said two of the accused were dead, but declined to provide any more details while the investigation by the U.N.’s Office of Internal Oversight Services was ongoing.

“Two Western officials confirmed on the condition of anonymity that they had been briefed on the contents of the dossier in recent days, but said they had not been able to verify the details,” The Times reports. “Although the United States has yet to corroborate the Israeli claims itself, American officials say they found them credible enough to warrant suspending aid.”

Guterres urged the nations that pulled the plug on UNRWA’s funding to reconsider, noting that the agency employs 13,000 people — most of them Palestinians — in Gaza.

The names, jobs, and accusations against the UNRWA employees are listed in the dossier that was given to the U.S.

The dossier said that Israeli intelligence officers had established the movements of six of the men inside Israel on Oct. 7 based on their phones; others had been monitored while making phone calls inside Gaza during which, the Israelis say, they discussed their involvement in the Hamas attack.

Three others got text messages ordering them to report to muster points on Oct. 7, and one was told to bring rocket-propelled grenades stored at his home, according to the dossier.

Ten of the employees were described by Israel as being members of Hamas; one was said to be a member of the Islamic Jihad, another radical Iran-backed militant group; and seven were reportedly teachers at UNRWA schools.

“Two others worked at the schools in other capacities,” The Times reports. “The remaining three were described as a clerk, a social worker and the storeroom manager.”

“It is shocking to see a suspension of funds to the Agency in reaction to allegations against a small group of staff, especially given the immediate action that UNRWA took by terminating their contracts and asking for a transparent independent investigation,” said UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini. “ The United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), the highest investigative authority in the UN system, has already been seized of this very serious matter.”

“UNRWA is the primary humanitarian agency in Gaza, with over 2 million people depending on it for their sheer survival,” he continued.  ”Many are hungry as the clock is ticking towards a looming famine. The Agency runs shelters for over 1 million people and provides food and primary healthcare even at the height of the hostilities. ”

“It would be immensely irresponsible to sanction an Agency and an entire community it serves because of allegations of criminal acts against some individuals, especially at a time of war, displacement and political crises in the region,” he stated.

“I urge countries who have suspended their funding to re-consider their decisions before UNRWA is forced to suspend its humanitarian response,” Lazzarini pleaded in the statement. “The lives of people in Gaza depend on this support and so does regional stability.”
