Failed border czar Kamala Harris rips defiant TX Gov. Abbott for returning illegal immigrants to border

In defiance of President Biden’s progressive policies that have left the U.S. border with Mexico all but wide open, Governor Greg Abbott (R) signed an executive order on Thursday authorizing the Texas National Guard, among other state law enforcement agencies, to arrest would-be border jumpers and haul them back to the border.

“I issued an Executive Order authorizing the Texas National Guard & Texas Dept. of Public Safety to return illegal immigrants to the border,” Gov. Abbott tweeted Thursday.

“Cartels have become emboldened by Biden’s open border policies,” he continued. “Texas is taking unprecedented action to STOP this criminal enterprise.”

Vice President Kamala Harris responded in an appearance on CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” accusing Abbott of “flame throwing.”

“I would suggest that so-called leaders focus on solutions instead of attacks if they really are concerned about a problem, and that includes on the issue of immigration,” she stated.

Those she has done absolutely nothing of note in her role as Biden’s Border Czar, Harris blamed Trump for creating “a badly broken” immigration system and insisted the solutions must include “passing a pathway for citizenship.”

In his official statement, Abbott said, “While President Biden refuses to do his job and enforce the immigration laws enacted by Congress, the state of Texas is once again stepping up and taking unprecedented action to protect Americans and secure our southern border.”

Abbott blamed the Biden Administration’s decisions to end Title 42 expulsions and the so-called “Remain-in-Mexico” policy for “historic levels of illegal crossings” and noted that more than 5,000 migrants were apprehended in Texas over the July 4th weekend alone.

“The cartels have become emboldened and enriched by President Biden’s open border policies, smuggling in record numbers of people, weapons, and deadly drugs like fentanyl,” he said.

The following day, he tweeted, “While President Biden refuses to do his job, TX is boosting border security efforts in local communities & returning illegal immigrants to the border.”

“#OperationLoneStar is securing the border to defend both Texans & Americans,” he proclaimed.

In the linked press release, Abbott’s office states, “Operation Lone Star continues to fill the dangerous gaps left by the Biden Administration’s refusal to secure the border.”

“Every individual who is apprehended or arrested and every ounce of drugs seized would have otherwise made their way into communities across Texas and the nation due to President Biden’s open border policies,” the statement reads.

And the numbers are staggering.

“Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, the multi-agency effort has led to more than 274,000 migrant apprehensions and more than 16,900 criminal arrests, with more than 14,200 felony charges reported,” according to the release. “More than 5,700 weapons and more than $43 million in currency have been seized.”

On Saturday, Abbott announced that Texas DPS was jumping into the fray.

“Today the Texas Department of Public Safety began arresting illegal immigrants and returning them to the border with Mexico,” Abbott tweeted on Saturday. “Biden’s border policies are crushing local communities up and down the border.”

Abbott’s EO stopped short of calling the border crisis an “invasion,” which, as BizPac Review reported, would have granted the governor the authority to declare war against it — a fact that disappointed many Texas officials. Without that official label, Governor Abbott’s bold act of defiance would amount to little more than a continuation of “catch-and-release.”

That changed when Abbott took to Fox News and basically did just that when he said that the Biden administration has “abandoned the covenant, in Article IV  § 4 of the U.S. Constitution, that ‘[t]he United States … shall protect each [State in this Union] against Invasion …'”

“We do have an invasion,” Abbott said, “driven by the cartels.”

“So that we can have a humane and appropriate approach to this issue, including of course, what we will continue to do in terms of prioritizing border security, but understanding we also need to create a pathway,” she said. “And that’s where I think everyone should be focused if they’re actually concerned about solutions, instead of flame throwing.”

According to Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), “Kamala Harris has no solution to the border, which is why she’s obviously lashing out at Governor Abbott.”

“And thank God for Governor Abbott having some solutions, having some creative way to approach the border — security issue that we’re having, having millions of illegal immigrants come across the border last year alone,” she continued.

“At least there’s somebody paying attention to our border,” she said, “and it’s Governor Greg Abbott, because certainly it isn’t Vice President Kamala Harris, certainly it’s not President Joe Biden or anyone in his administration at this point.”
