Fani Willis’ pregnant daughter arrested

The arrest of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ daughter reportedly had the young woman pointing to her mother and her pregnancy as an excuse.

Amid the ongoing lawfare against former President Donald Trump where Willis led the case of alleged election interference in Georgia during the 2020 presidential election, it appeared the DA could add another personal scandal atop her relationship with now-former Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade.

According to a review of the incident report filed by the Tyrone Police Department, Willis’ 25-year-old daughter, Kinaya Willis, was arrested in late August for allegedly driving with a suspended license, the Daily Mail detailed.

While the license suspension was what led to the arrest of the younger Willis, a Texas Southern University student expecting a child of her own, she had initially been pulled over for her alleged use of a cell phone while driving through Tyrone, Georgia, a matter for which she blamed the DA.

As detailed in the incident report, “The driver who I identified via her Drivers License as Kinaya Willis, stated that the reason for her using her cell phone while operating the vehicle was due to her mother calling her related to her pregnancy.”

The report went on to explain that the officer ran Willis’ license and discovered her current license suspension came from previously getting caught driving on a suspended license on May 13. “I then advised Willis that her Drivers License was suspended. Willis stated she was unaware of her license being suspended at this time.”

After she was handcuffed and taken to the Fayette County Jail for the misdemeanor charge, “Willis’s mother later arrived on scene to take possession of her vehicle.”

The officer further indicated that he provided the young woman with a notice of the license suspension when she was handed over to the custody of the jail. The Daily Mail detailed that Willis was ordered to appear for her arraignment on Oct. 24 at the Town of Tyrone Municipal Court and explained that the minimum punishment for driving with a suspended license included two days in jail, a fine of at least $500, and a six-month extension to the license suspension.

For a second offense, jail time increased to a minimum of 10 days and the fine could be from $1,000 to $2,500.

“Reached for comment about Kinaya’s arrest, Willis immediately hung up on a DailyMail.com reporter,” the outlet detailed. “Kinaya did not respond to a message asking for comment.”

The latest drama connected to the Fulton County DA followed the extensive look at the personal relationship between Fani Willis and Wade that led Judge Scott McAfee to rule the prosecutor would have to withdraw from the case against Trump or the DA’s office would not be permitted to move forward.

Wade’s lucrative contract had been said to have funded vacations for himself and Willis. Trump’s case is set to be presented to an appeals court in October as co-defendants challenged McAfee’s decision not to disqualify Willis and the president himself sought to have charges dismissed after the Supreme Court decision on immunity.
