The 2019 death of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein spawned theories that he did not kill himself, but FBI bosses are adamant he committed suicide while awaiting trial in prison.
FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino insisted on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” that the evidence points to suicide, despite the speculation. The disgraced financier was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York while awaiting trial on federal charges of sex trafficking of minors.
His death, which triggered a wave of conspiracy theories, was ruled a suicide by hanging by New York City’s chief medical examiner. When questioned about it by Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday, Patel had no doubts, while noting that those who disagree with him “have a right to their opinion.”
BARTIROMO: You said Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide. People don’t believe it.
PATEL: Listen, they have a right to their opinion, but you know a suicide when you see one, and that’s what that was.

“They have a right to their opinion, but as someone who has worked as a public defender, as a prosecutor, who’s been in that prison system, who has been in the Metropolitan Detention Center, who’s been in segregated housing, you know a suicide when you see one, and that’s what that was,” Patel said.
“He killed himself,” Bongino concurred. “I’ve seen the whole file, he killed himself.”
After the remarks set off a wave of reactions, Bongino followed up on X as he elaborated on the interview with Bartiromo.
“I was asked about some of the details surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein case. I have reviewed the case. Jeffrey Epstein killed himself,” he said in part.
“There’s no evidence in the case file indicating otherwise. I’m not asking you to believe me, or not. I’m telling you what exists, and what doesn’t. If new evidence surfaces I’m happy to reevaluate,” he explained.

Earlier this year, Attorney General Pam Bondi said the Justice Department had received a “truckload of evidence” related to Epstein and promised that an FBI report would soon be coming. There has not yet been any report, and the release of documents in February was regarded as a disappointment by many after they failed to reveal anything new.
One of Epstein’s victims, Virginia Giuffre, died by suicide in April.
