Having platformed on opposing President Donald Trump and demonizing Republicans, numerous Democrats have found themselves outvoted by the even more radical among them, promising a pipe dream via the Democratic Socialists of America proposals.
Now, as even House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) planted a foot in opposition to their agenda, Jose Aristimuño, former deputy national press secretary for the Democratic National Committee, stated plainly that it is his “hope” and expectation that the Democratic nominee for Senate in Michigan “won’t be able to” win in November.
Appearing on Fox News’ “The Faulkner Focus” alongside National Republican Senatorial Committee advisor Matt Whitlock, Aristimuño was asked by anchor Harris Faulkner who of the more extreme left won’t win in the general election.
To that, the former spokesman said, “Well, I think — El-Sayed, for example, in Michigan — I think he’s somebody that won’t be able to. And I hope he doesn’t. Look, I always say I’m a Democrat, and I want Democrats to win, but these DSA candidates do not represent my party. And I think a majority of Democrats know that, but some of them don’t want to speak up.”
The segment had kicked off with a quote from Jeffries who remarked, “I don’t support the DSA agenda as has been articulated by the DSA itself.”
This was followed with some headlines as Faulkner read, “The Washington Examiner column says, ‘The Democrats’ growing extremism will surely backfire,’ And New York Post opinion here, ‘Woke might be wounded — but the radical left is still infiltrating our politics.'”
She then asked, “Now, you’ve got Hakeem Jeffries, who thinks he can cull everybody together — can he?” leading Aristimuño to contend, “Look, he needs to do it. He needs to do it; otherwise he’s another one that’s gotta go. There’s an in-fight, Harris, within the Democratic Party, and it is very clear. Do we want to turn this country into Cuba, into Venezuela, or do we want to be the United States of America, the greatest country on Earth?”
“I think the majority of Democrats agree with me — they’re center Democrats, but they need to speak up. I’m not too worried, by the way, with the Twittersphere and the folks saying all the stuff that you just pulled up on the program. I think there are some extreme-left candidates that have been winning. I think they’re gonna lose in the primaries,” he added. “I think center Democrats need to continue to stand up the way that we did in New Jersey, Virginia and here in Miami.”
Only a year earlier, Aristimuño perceived DSA-backed politicians like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as “outliers,” contending ahead of myriad primary victories, “They are the loudest but not the most organized.”
