Fox News host calls Trump a ‘madman,’ who’s admitting ‘they’re going to meddle with the election’

The president’s desire to address election integrity found detractors like Jessica Tarlov melting down over the supposed “madman” allegedly confessing plans “to meddle.”

Monday, after a year-long sting with the FBI, now-former Deputy Director Dan Bongino returned to his podcast and hosted President Donald Trump via phone. It was then that the chief executive’s desire to see Republicans “nationalize the voting” amid new scrutiny of the 2020 election left the co-host of Fox News’ “The Five” and others primed to peddle doubts about the 2026 midterm elections anew.

“He’s a madman and is straight up telling us that they’re going to meddle with the election,” insisted Tarlov in reaction to the president’s comments.

As had been reported, before discussing external national security concerns and the need to be respected by foreign nations — as opposed to perspectives under the Biden administration — the president addressed internal concerns related to open borders.

In particular, Trump spoke to the Democratic Party’s position on defending illegal aliens, asserting, “These people were brought to our country to vote, and they vote illegally. And … amazing that the Republicans aren’t tougher on it. The Republicans should say, ‘We want to take over, we should take over voting in at least many, 15 places.’ The Republicans oughta nationalize the voting. We have states that are so crooked, and they’re counting votes. We have states that I won that show I didn’t win.”

“Now you’re gonna see something in Georgia where they were able to get with a court order the ballots, you’re gonna see some interesting things come out. But you know, like the 2020 election, I won that election by so much. Everybody knows it,” the president went on, as at the end of 2025, Fulton County, Georgia, had acknowledged that around 315,000 early-voting ballots had not been properly certified in the 2020 presidential election.

Last week, the FBI executed a warrant seeking ballots, electronic data regarding counts, and equipment used in the election as part of their investigation.

Despite these realities and the left’s opposition to voter ID laws, Tarlov wasn’t alone in fearmongering over supposed threats to “free and fair elections.”

MS NOW host Joe Scarborough posted, “Try sane washing this. Even your anti-anti Trump drivel can’t compete with this threat level,” while Virginia Sen. Mark Warner (D) appeared to accuse the administration of wrongdoing for the Fulton County investigation, referring to it as “a pretext to conduct unprecedented federal intrusion into our elections.”

Meanwhile, as Republican members of Congress push leadership to attach passage of the SAVE Act to current funding packages, social media reactions from those desiring to see election integrity voiced their support while calling out Tarlov and others.

“If by ‘meddle in the election’ you mean ‘prevent illegal aliens from voting,’ I totally agree,” said one as another offered, “No, you are mad because illegal aliens are being removed from casting illegal votes.”
