Fox News’ Bret Baier addresses whether he will move to CBS News

Fox News’s Bret Baier has heard the rumors that CBS’s new head honcho is looking to poach him, and he’s finally responded.

Speaking to Meghan McCain on her Citizen McCain podcast Monday, Baier addressed rumors that he might have a career change in his future if CBS News’s Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss has anything to say about it.

“You’ve made a lot of news, not on purpose, unintentionally. There’s reports all over the internet that Bari Weiss is considering you to host the CBS Evening News and then right before we came on, John Dickerson announced … that he’s leaving. Is there any truth to that? And totally respectfully, I would be heartbroken if you left Fox News,” McCain said.

“I’m flattered by all the press and everything like that, but I’m in a multi-year contract with Fox. So I don’t know where everything’s going. I’m signed on to Fox, very happy at Fox. And, you know, we’ll see what happens at the end of that,” Baier responded, the epitome of professionalism without permanently shutting any doors. “But it’s interesting to see all the press about.”

Since being elevated to her position, Weiss has worked diligently to turn around the reputation of a news organization considered by many to be “biased” and unreliable in its reporting.

As BizPac Review previously reported, the new editor-in-chief stumped the 60 Minutes team by asking them a fairly straightforward question: “Why does the country think you’re biased?”

“The inquiry was met with stunned awkwardness, according to three people who recounted details from the private session in Midtown Manhattan. The staff of ’60 Minutes,’ the nation’s most-watched news program, view their coverage as firmly nonpartisan and reject criticism from President Trump and his allies who argue that it has a liberal slant,” the New York Times report reads.

Her introduction into the CBS News workplace has brought a flurry of changes as the network rebels against being led my someone they deem unworthy of the position. Still, she has dedicated herself to bringing the organization back into the competitive arena and winning over the trust of Americans who view the mainstream media as something of an opponent when it comes to reporting the facts.

But with the backlash from the left, including many of those within the CBS News apparatus, it remains to be seen just how successful Weiss will be in instituting her intended, and potentially successful, changes. One thing is clear, though, Baier is not going to be jumping ship any time soon.
