Geraldo comes up with bright idea that Biden should pardon Trump IF he pledges to drop out of race

Regardless of what you may think of Geraldo Rivera, it’s hard to argue that he’s not an equal-opportunity offender when sharing his thoughts.

Rivera took to Twitter on Tuesday to respond to President Joe Biden smirking when asked by Fox News reporter Peter Doocy about the possibility of pardoning Donald Trump — the question was prompted by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis saying during an interview on the “Clay and Buck” radio show that he would consider pardoning Jan. 6 defendants if warranted, all the way up to the former president.

The bright idea Rivera proposed was that Biden offer a pardon in exchange for a vow from Trump to abandon his run for the White House — keep in mind, Trump has not been convicted of any crimes.

“Biden pardoning Trump — the way Ford pardoned Nixon — IS a good idea,” Geraldo tweeted. “This clemency to include inciting the violence of January 6th, the Mar-a-Lago documents case & any other federal allegation. Clemency would require a pledge by Trump that he will no longer seek the presidency.”

This is not the first time Rivera has proposed the idea, He tweeted back in November: “For the good of the nation, Ford pardoned Nixon. For the good of the nation, Biden should pardon Trump.”

There’s little argument that Trump is the most persecuted political figure in modern American history but his antagonizers have yet to hang a conviction on him — he did lose a defamation lawsuit brought by E. Jean Carroll, who alleged that Trump raped her in a New York City department store some three decades ago, which he is expected to appeal.

He does face a number of legal problems though. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg charged the former president with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records last month in connection with hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal ahead of the 2016 election — an action widely seen as political retaliation.

There is also a special counsel investigation looking into Trump’s alleged role in inciting the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol and his possession of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. He faces potential charges in Georgia as well for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election result in that state.

As mentioned above, Rivera managed to alienate people from both sides of the political spectrum. Team MAGA insists their guy has done nothing that requires a pardon, while Team Blue declares that nothing short of prison for life will do.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from all sides, as seen on Twitter:
