Vice President Kamala Harris won’t say whether she is also pushing Hamas to reach a ceasefire deal in Gaza after she harshly criticized Israel over the conflict.
The presumptive Democrat nominee has taken center stage after the party elite’s successful coup against dementia-addled Joe Biden and already finds herself at the center of a diplomatic controversy of her own making.
After being a no-show for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress, Harris met with the leader of the Jewish democracy for a “frank and constructive” discussion on Thursday followed by remarks demanding that Israel halt its military operation – remarks that were peppered with Hamas talking points about civilian casualties.

Harris pushed Netanyahu to get cracking and “get this deal done” she said, adding, “What has happened in Gaza over the past nine months is devastating — the images of dead children and desperate, hungry people fleeing for safety, sometimes displaced for the second, third, or fourth time,” using the propaganda narrative favored by the terrorist organization that centers around war porn showing dead and maimed children.
“We cannot look away in the face of these tragedies. We cannot allow ourselves to become numb to the suffering and I will not be silent,” the veep added.
Her camp has declined to reveal whether Harris has exerted similar pressure on Hamas which bears sole responsibility for starting the war after the barbaric attack on civilian areas last October in which over 1,200 Israelis were massacred, many with primitive savagery with others taken as hostages.
“Israel has a right to defend itself, and how it does so matters,” she told the press on Thursday. “It is time for this war to end. And end in a way that Israel is secure, all the hostages are released, the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza ends, and the Palestinian people can exercise their right to freedom, dignity and self-determination.”
“As I just told Prime Minister Netanyahu, it is time to get this deal done,” Harris said. “So to everyone who has been calling for a cease-fire, and to everyone who yearns for peace, I see you, and I hear you.”
She also spoke of the “serious concern about the scale of human suffering in Gaza,” which she implied was Israel’s fault.
The vice president’s office was asked “several times” by Fox News Digital about “whether she is applying the same pressure to Hamas leaders to accept the terms as she is to Netanyahu and Israel,” but the outlet reported that she did not respond.
“We’re trying to get one. And I think, to the extent that Hamas understands that there’s no daylight between Israel and the United States, that expedites the deal. And I hope that those comments don’t change that,” Netanyahu told reporters when asked about the possibility of a ceasefire, suggesting that Harris’s remarks could potentially undermine negotiations.
“I don’t know what they’re talking about,” an aide to Harris told Fox News when asked about a media report that Netanyahu wasn’t pleased with her remarks. “President Biden and Vice President Harris delivered the same message in their private meetings to Prime Minister Netanyahu: It’s time to get the cease-fire and hostage deal done.”
Harris seems to be looking to leverage her honeymoon period after she was anointed as Biden’s successor to lobby for the elusive ceasefire that “Genocide Joe” couldn’t deliver to the party’s antisemitic base and could then take credit for it as a pre-election accomplishment that would boost turnout with Michigan Muslims.
“I think her remarks were disrespectful,” former President Donald J. Trump, who hosted the Israeli leader at Mar-a-Lago, told reporters on Friday. “They weren’t very nice pertaining to Israel. I actually don’t know how a person who’s Jewish can vote for her, but that’s up to them. But she was certainly disrespectful to Israel, in my opinion.”
