An electrical worker is fortunate to see another day after his good decision to use a safety harness likely saved his life.
Wild footage shows a man working in a bucket reportedly above an intersection outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The video takes a dramatic turn when a semi-truck clips the bucket, upturning it along with the electrical worker, who could be seen dangling above the busy street.
From the looks of it, it was the safety harness and the man’s good sense to use it that saved him from injury, or worse.

Thanks to the worker’s harness, he was caught, saving him from falling on his head.

Thankfully, the worker only suffered minor injuries, and the accident is under investigation, ABC reported.
X users weighed in on the crazy scene, with many wondering why the lane didn’t appear to be shut down:
WOW. Shoutout that HARNESS. MVP. Also shoutout him for doing all the necessary safety precautions! You never know when a 0.1% fringe case could happen, and his life was saved. Always buckle up, folks!

I used to collect traffic data in Texas. I would have to block a lane at times with traffic cones and my truck’s yellow and blue lights flashing. I can’t tell you how many times people ran over my cones and almost hit me or my truck. It amazes me how unaware people are.

This won’t be a popular remark but that was on the guys working the boom truck. If they didn’t have flagmen or traffic control in place then it was on them to keep the bucket out of the way. If the guy in the bucket that got dumped was operating the bucket and not the guy on the…

The trucker isn’t to blame.
Overhead work from a bucket truck requires a full lane closure with proper signs, cones, and taper.
The company only put a few cones on the shoulder. Glad he’s okay, but it’s 100% the company’s fault.

Worker to OSHA: “Why do I have to strap in, I’m in a bucket?”
OSHA: “Because you never know what could happen.”

And X wouldn’t be X without at least a little levity:
I wonder how many times when asked, “how are you doing?” he responded with, “I’m hanging in there!”
