As the ripple effect from efforts in the Middle East continues to be felt by Americans, the self-assured president asserted the one thing we will “never” say regarding Iran.

Friday, President Donald Trump traveled to Garden City, Long Island, where he spoke to members of law enforcement at the David S. Mack Center for Training and Intelligence while stumping for Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman’s gubernatorial bid. It was there he touched on the hot-button issue of affordability as impacted by the conflict in the Middle East and said, “I’ll never apologize.”
During his remarks, the commander-in-chief called out the Democrats over their messaging on gas prices and the rest of the economy, reminding, “they are the ones that caused the affordability.”
Moving on to suggest success in the Middle East would lead to the Strait of Hormuz being declared “a territory of the United States,” and acknowledging that he used the military “a little more than I wanted to” in order to prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon, Trump recounted how the impact on prices at the pump was understood before Operations Midnight Hammer and Epic Fury were launched.
“I just got back. I was in Iowa helping some people, and I was in office, and we’re looking at the pump, and it’s $1.95 a gallon and another one was $1.85 … and I meet them the following day, I said, ‘I have some bad news for you guys. We have to make a little journey to the Middle East because we have to put out a potential disaster, a potential very big fire, fire like you’ve never seen,'” recalled the president who reiterated how strikes are intended to ensure Iran never has a nuclear weapon.
He continued, “So, for you to pay a tiny little bit more for your gasoline, just remember, you’re doing it so that a very evil country cannot have — a country, really, it’s the number one state sponsor of terror in the world. We don’t want to have them have a nuclear weapon. So remember that. When you have to pay a little bit more, you’re at $4, it’s okay, I mean, it’s not — I’ll never apologize.”
“I did the right thing,” insisted Trump, “but you could… I had it down to below $2 in many states. And California can’t include because they keep taxing, taxing, taxing. You lower the oil price, and they end up taxing you more than what you lower it.”
Of late, pundits have sounded off about the GOP’s messaging on affordability, contending that faulting the Democrats for policies under President Joe Biden was all well and good, but it’s time for Republicans to own a path back to lower gas prices, cheaper groceries and mortgage rates that aren’t blocking hardworking citizens from living out their American dream.
Ahead of the expected backlash from his detractors, the president went on to state, “You just have to remember that what we’re doing is great service for the world, not only for ourselves, for the world. And we’re really doing a great job. Our military is unbelievable. The blockade is unstoppable. It’s a wall of steel. The blockade is a wall of steel.”
