Migrants hoping to cross into the U.S. illegally are reportedly turning back at the border when they learn the Trump administration means business.
According to internal U.S. Customs and Border Protection memos, two groups of more than two dozen migrants turned back after they were encountered by Honduran authorities. Fox News reporter Bill Melugin detailed how they went back to their country of origin after learning of heavier security at U.S. borders.
“In one memo, a group of 23 migrants were encountered on a bus by Honduran law enforcement on February 5th,” Melugin reported in a post on X.

“They were interviewed and: ‘Upon learning about the multi agency force security on the Southwest Border in social media and thorough family members in the United States, the migrants decided to return to their country of origin,'” Melugin added.
Members of the group reportedly hailed from Honduras, Venezuela, Panama, and El Salvador.
Honduran law enforcement encountered another group of 26 migrants, according to a second CBP memo that noted the February 3rd incident.
“The migrants had been United States-bound but due to increased security on the Southwest Border, they decided to return to their countries of origin,” the memo noted, according to Melugin who added that they were met at the “checkpoint as they headed *south* into Nicaragua.”
The Fox News reporter shared the memo details on the migrant encounters:
“The Migrants stated that they arrived at Tegucigalpa, and there, they decided to return to their countries of origin.
During their return, and at the Guasaule POE (Honduran/Nicaraguan border), they attempted to make entry into Nicaragua, however, they were returned by Nicaraguan Immigration. The group then spoke with the Honduran Immigration (INM) and both institutions agreed on allowing them to return, if they were to continue enroute to their country of origin. All 26 migrants made entry into Nicaragua at approximately 7:00 a.m on February the 3rd.”
Melugin’s post on X included CBP photos that were reportedly of the migrant groups referenced in the memos.
Border Czar Tom Homan revealed last week that border crossings have undergone a staggering drop as he cited only 446 illegal crossings versus the 11,000 per day under President Joe BIden’s lax administration.

Melugin commented on the “crazy low numbers” in another post last week.
“I would have trouble finding illegal aliens if I went down there right now,” he wrote on X.
I mean these are just crazy low numbers. Unheard of to see this. Think about the thousands you saw pouring in daily in our live shots in Eagle Pass & RGV in recent years.
They had 46 and 23 yesterday.
