Members of the defunct Select Committee on the January 6 attack reacted after President Donald J. Trump clawed back their controversial “preventive” pardons which were handed out by Joe Biden in the final hours before he left office.
Long a vocal critic of the sham body that was created to frame him over the so-called “insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol, Trump yanked the pardons which bore Biden’s autopen signature, casting doubt on whether the mentally infirm ex-leader really signed them, let alone authorized the unprecedented pardons of malicious operators who hadn’t even been charged with crimes.
Declaring that pardons for the J6 committee and other bad actors were “void, vacant and of no further force or effect,” the president noted that “The necessary Pardoning Documents were not explained to, or approved by, Biden. He knew nothing about them, and the people that did may have committed a crime. Therefore, those on the Unselect Committee, who destroyed and deleted ALL evidence obtained during their two year Witch Hunt of me, and many other innocent people, should fully understand that they are subject to investigation at the highest level,”
Jamie Raskin responds to Trump statement voiding J6 Committee pardons due to Biden ‘autopen’ signatures:
“This sounds like classic Donald Trump stuff. The pardons were necessary because of Trump’s promises to prosecute Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney.”

“I had not seen that Donald Trump is claiming that the pardon rendered by President Biden was somehow illegitimate because of the kind of pen that was used. This sounds like classic Donald Trump stuff. You know, the pardons, of course, were necessary because of Trump’s promises to prosecute Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney, less so the rest of us, but they had already made their moves against Liz Cheney,” Raskin told Amy Goodman, longtime host of the far-left Democracy Now.
“And I have no reason to think that those were not valid any more than the humiliating and atrocious pardons that Donald Trump gave to nearly 1,600 insurrectionists, including violent felons who viciously attacked our police officers on January 6th,” Raskin added of the persecuted protesters who were hunted down, jailed and deprived of their right to due process under the Biden regime.
Another committee member, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), took to X to defend Nancy Pelosi’s Soviet-style inquisition, a blight on American history.
“The members of the Jan 6 Committee are all proud of our work. Your threats will not intimidate us. Or silence us,” the conspiracy monger and serial liar wrote in a Monday post to X.

Another J6er, former GOP congressman and now CNN commentator Adam Kinzinger, posted a video to his X account mocking Trump in his typically childish way and daring the president to come after him.
Donald, bring it. I’m so tired of your victimy whiney belly aching crap. You friggin won and you STILL are complaining all the time.
BRING IT YOU SMALL LITTLE BOY pic.twitter.com/u2XMrcIZyN

“So, my reaction to him is like, you know what? Then bring it! Like, stop talking about it! Stop being all verbose. Stop pretending like you’re tough. Bring the charges then if you really want to do it because we will crush you in court,” Kinzinger later told CNN anchor Jake Tapper, perhaps the only employee of the troubled cable “news” network who is more whiney than he is.
The committee’s chair, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) also defended the legitimacy of his pardon by insisting that those pardoned by Trump had done much worse by cynically expressing concerns for the police even though his party had championed the post-George Floyd efforts to defund law enforcement.
Trump was responsible for Jan 6. That’s why on day one he pardoned those who beat police that day. ⁰⁰We thoroughly & legally investigated what he did and have lived rent free in his mind since. He knows his guilt.
I am not afraid of his rant that has no basis in reality.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) who served on the J6 committee also defended the un-American panel’s work.
The members of the January 6 Select Committee did our legislative work uncovering the role Trump played in his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. He should be ashamed, & he is trying to erase the truth.
Yet, the truth remains, & we won’t be intimidated or silenced. pic.twitter.com/KyeEFFidD1

One J6 committee member was conspicuous by her silence, and as of early Tuesday morning, Liz Cheney had yet to speak out. At least for now passing up an opportunity to attack Trump that would get her a maximum amount of attention and the sympathy of her cheerleaders in the media.
Dr. Anthony S. Fauci and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark A. Milley who were among those who received pardons have also not responded to Trump’s bold move.
