The alleged D.C. pipe bomber, Brian Cole Jr., has been outed as a hardcore fan of the “My Little Pony” franchise.
Cole is such a fan of the franchise that he started “creating art of plastic pony dolls, remixes of songs about them, and writing fan fiction dedicated to them,” according to the New York Post.
“Posting [online] as iDeltaVelocity, Cole apparently uploaded 87 pictures of My Little Pony fan art to one forum, showing various pony and unicorn characters,” the Post notes.
One piece he created showed a pony with a bionic leg brace. The ponies he designed were typically pink or purple.
His online activities also appeared to often feature violence.
One drawing showed a pony saying, “I’m not ‘cute’ — I’m deadly.”
Meanwhile, Cole once commented on another person’s drawing of a pony with a machine gun.
“Eh… I’d give her an RPG. What can I say? Explosions are COOL!” Cole commented under the post.
Another brony??

Cole is also a writer who likes to mix his pony fantasies with horror.
“Applebloom’s eyes snapped open as she sat up in her bed, panting heavily and sweat dripping from her red mane […] The skeletons, the zombified ponies rising up from the ground, their decaying bodies, rotting flesh sliding off from their bones,” he wrote in one story.
“She buried her face in her hooves, crying silently at the horrible images that inhabited her mind,” the weird story continued.
According to a former high school classmate, Cole was bullied in school over his “My Little Pony” obsession.
“For the most part, people didn’t pay him much mind, but unfortunately, I remember times of him being bullied,” the classmate told the Washington Post. “What I most vividly remember is people pointing and laughing at him or calling him out for being a ‘My Little Pony’ fan. It was the theme of his backpack, and he had some of the toys.”
The classmate added that Cole never fired back at this bullying with violence or disrespect.
“I’d go as far as to say I never saw him be disrespectful to anyone,” he said.
Men who enjoy “My Little Pony” are often known as Bronies.
“The subculture of Bronies was very online and unique and attracted a lot of male fans, who were breaking gender norms, which attracted a lot of attention,” Dr. Daniel Chadborn, the author of “Meet the Bronies: The Psychology of the Adult My Little Pony Fandom,” told the Post.
Chadborn wasn’t surprised that Cole was a Brony.
“Someone who is disaffected is often going to look for spaces to engage in, for a sense of identity and belonging,” he said.
Politically, Cole’s family was reportedly so left-wing that they sued the Trump administration and had a history of helping illegal aliens evade immigration enforcement:

As previously reported, no motive for Cole’s crime of setting up pipe bombs outside the RNC and DNC on Jan. 5, 2021, has been ascertained as of yet.
Meanwhile, Cole has been described as an “almost autistic-like” loner who worked for his family’s business, Brian Cole Bail Bonds, and whose self-reported interests included “parkour, music, video games (mainly horror), drawing, improving myself philosophically, and anime.”
Cole made his first court appearance last Friday.
“Cole’s legs and arms were shaking throughout the duration of the hearing as he listened to the judge read him his rights and detail the two charges Cole currently faces, which carry a maximum sentence of up to 30 years if he is convicted,” ABC News reported.
Cole has reportedly admitted to the authorities that he planted the 2021 pipe bombs, though, as noted before, his motive remains unclear.
