Less than two weeks after former White House press secretary Jen Psaki left her spot as an assistant to President Joe Biden, her not-so-secret next move was officially announced Tuesday touting her “insight” and “trusted authority.”
While Psaki had made apparent that she would be leaving the White House as soon as a replacement was announced, many bristled at her continued service for the government as she negotiated a contract with corporate media. The courting forged ahead anyway and MSNBC president Rashida Jones was pleased to declare the furtherance of the incestuous ties between the network and Democratic politicians.
“Jen’s sharp wit and relatability combined with the mastery of the subjects she covers have made her a household name across the nation,” Jones boasted in the official statement. “Her extensive experience in government and on the campaign trail and perspective as a White House and Washington insider is the type of analysis that sets MSNBC apart.”

In addition to appearances on MSNBC and NBC News programs, Psaki will be hosting her own show on the streaming service Peacock beginning in early 2023. “She’s a familiar face and trusted authority to MSNBC viewers,” Jones went on, “and we look forward to her insight during this consequential election season.”
Thrilled to join the incredible @MSNBC family this fall. Breaking down the facts and getting to the bottom of what’s driving the issues that matter most to people in this country has never been more important.

Psaki demonstrated how well she would fit in on the network as she vehemently tooted her own horn stating, “Fact-based and thoughtful conversations about the big questions on the minds of people across the country have never been more important, and I’m thrilled to join the incredible MSNBC team.”
“My time in government, from the White House to the State Department, and years before that on national political campaigns will fuel the insight and perspective I bring to this next chapter,” she went on. “I can’t wait to create a space on streaming where we break down the facts, get to the bottom of what’s driving the issues and hopefully have some fun along the way.”

Of course, Psaki had barely stepped away from the briefing room podium before she was faced with the ongoing challenge of having to defend her own statements free of a communications team dedicated to spin. A freshman college journalist was able to call her out, so it is unlikely that her program will position her in anything but debates with friendlies to the agenda.
“The addition of Psaki adds to the network’s dynamic lineup of programs on streaming, including Symone hosted by seasoned political strategist Symone D. Sanders,” the statement noted of the former chief spokesperson to Vice President Kamala Harris.
This hasn’t been a one-sided relationship for the media however, as newly minted White House press secretary Karine Jean Pierre remains thoroughly connected to CNN through her partner correspondent Suzanne Malveaux. It remains to be seen what her program will be named, though many on social media hold out hope for “Circle Back with Jen Psaki.”
