Jill Biden’s ‘work husband’ is ‘running scared,’ subpoena issued after refusal to testify

Republicans are putting Jill Biden’s longtime aide on blast, claiming he’s “running scared.”

Committee Chairman James Comer delivered a scathing statement over Anthony Bernal’s refusal to testify before Congress on Joe Biden’s obvious cognitive decline while occupying the White House and announced he will be issuing a subpoena to “compel” him to testify.

“Now that the White House has waived executive privilege, it’s abundantly clear that Anthony Bernal – Jill Biden’s so-called ‘work husband’ – never intended to be transparent about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and the ensuing cover-up. With no privilege left to hide behind, Mr. Bernal is now running scared, desperate to bury the truth,” Comer’s statement read.

“The American people deserve answers and accountability, and the Oversight Committee will not tolerate this obstruction. I will promptly issue a subpoena to compel Anthony Bernal’s testimony before the Committee.”

Comer also stated that former Biden Staff Secretary Neera Tanden had just testified that she wielded “tremendous” power as part of Biden’s “autopen” operation. However, she had little to no interaction with Biden and did not know where the so-called approval for the signatures was coming from.

“Just yesterday, we heard from our first witness, Neera Tanden, the former Staff Secretary who controlled the Biden autopen. Ms. Tanden testified that she had minimal interaction with President Biden, despite wielding tremendous authority,” Comer’s statement continued.

“She explained that to obtain approval for autopen signatures, she would send decision memos to members of the President’s inner circle and had no visibility of what occurred between sending the memo and receiving it back with approval. Her testimony raises serious questions about who was really calling the shots in the Biden White House amid the President’s obvious decline. We will continue to pursue the truth for the American people.”

And that was just the FIRST witness.

In a press release, the Oversight Committee accused Bernal of being part of a “cover-up” to hide Biden’s mental state, but claimed that he had agreed to testify on June 26, 2025, until he learned that his executive privilege had been waived.

News of Bernal’s refusal to testify set X users off with plenty calling for his arrest, although many doubted that the GOP has the spine to do it:
